Come week #1 will Russell Wilson be booed or cheered upon his return to Seattle? Sentiment everywhere seems to have vastly changed on him the past few months. I'm seeing people now who were his most ardent defenders even saying they feel betrayed. More and more unflattering things keep coming out about the guys attitude. Anyway, the point of this thread is, do you think Russ should be boo'd week #1? I understand not everyone will be at the game so just answer as if you were there. Would you boo? Cheer? Nothing? I believe the most likely scenario is there will be a bit of both boos and cheers. But I am wondering what people think on an individual basis.

Personally, If I make it I'm going to have to cheer. The fact is I believe he's a good dude who did a lot for the city. He does care deeply about others and won us a SB. Is there some self centeredness and drama that I'm happy we got away from? Sure. Still have to thank the guy for all he did.

I believe he's more deserving of applause than he is booing but if there were an action for expressing disappointment, that would be my choice if I were to attend opening day.

2012 was filled with such anticipation centered around the collective feeling that we finally found our franchise QB. And in 2013, we rode the wave all the way to the SB but in 2014, the air came out of the balloon in Glendale... and from 2015 through 2021, the balloon never quite got fully inflated again for a variety of reasons... some related to Russ directly or to him indirectly.

They booed Sherman. SHERMAN.

A guy that got hurt playing for us on a bad field. A guy that the SEAHAWKS decided NOT to resign.

The guy responsible for the single most important regular-season play in Seahawk history.

They booed HIM. He should have a statue outside of the stadium remembering his greatness (along with the LOB and Lynch). But no.

If they can boo Sherman, who cares who else they decide to boo? (Sometimes our fans are morons.)

I'd probably be meh if I was there...I'd really hope though that the defense would make it their season goal to punish him all game. That is the welcoming I want to see.

It'll be a mixed reaction, but the sound a "boo" makes is significantly louder than standing there clapping, so it will sound like boos on TV.

Buck will then spin the story to make the 12s look like the bad guys. Aikman will be intoxicated as usual and say some half baked comment about how the Seattle fans are spoiled, etc

I think, best case, Adam, Diggs, Taylor and Brooks roll out the welcome mat for him, give him some dap for old times sake, and then knock him on his ass 5 or 6 times, roll him up in said welcome mat, slap a 'Let's Ride' sticker on it, and get his teammates to roll him out the stadium.

I agree with your sentiments but your facts are a tad off. They released him while he was still under contract because he wouldn't take a pay cut and The Tip was not a regular season game. However, there should be a statue of it at the stadium.

IMO, Wilson deserves cheers as a final farewell when he is introduced and then booed the rest of the game.

They'll definitely be booing after the game after the beat down Denver gives them.

i wish we could give him a standing ovation...but we seriously can't. The reception should be very neutral...The newly forming Seahawks team do not need the additional mental pressure of trying to measure up. I want them to just go out and play a confident game. We really have some "electric players" that can overcome a quarterback differential. We could easily "stomp them into submission". So, I hope the fans just give him a "meh"...

The mental state of this team is really important. I hope the players have the feeling that they are confident and appreciated team members to both the other players and the coaching staff. Bryan Mone spent his rookie season on the practice squad, but has shown himself to be a really good player and was re-signed. A move like this could help to inspire a "team feeling". I hope that we will also extend our biggest star DK Metcalf to a contract that will make him a happy team mate going forward.

As for #3...I hope he will "Eat The Ball" and will be hit hard enough to induce "Nano Bubbles".

If you're not for us, you're against us...

Russ should and will be booed. He is not a Seahawk. Now is not the time to honor his contributions to our only SB win. He will get that when he comes back and is inducted into the ring of honor. Until then, he is an enemy. Especially this year when the worse he does the better draft pick we get back.
