We hit the jackpot picking Emmanwori. That much is already obvious. The guy is quickly becoming a force as an XFactor, lining up all over the field. This past week, he became the first rookie in NFL history to post 9 tackles (5 solo) 5 QB pressure, .5 sack and 4 passes defenses in a single game and I believe one of only 4 in NFL history to ever do so.

His versatility, physicality and football IQ will be key in matching up against the Ram's oft deployed 2 and 3 TE sets. Against less talented defenses, the Rams have been able to force mismatches by making them go to smaller packages to cover their 3 headed TE monster - 3 players who can run and catch as effectively as they can block. Against us, with Emmanwori and a DLine that will HOPEFULLY still be able to pressure Stafford without Reed, we stand a great chance at nullifying that strategic advantage they have against most teams. It would be great to have Love to add on the back end, but Nick is arguably the most important single player in our matchup against the Rams when you consider the Master McVay is at finding advantages once he understands what it is you are doing to defend his offense. The 9ers were able to keep things close into the 2nd half until the Rams just blew things open. McVay won't find it as easy with a chess piece like Emmanwori who can be deployed in multiple ways.

I'm sure MM is amoed this weak knowing he finally has a wildcard to play in his chess match against McVay.

Right, With Nick out there doing what he's doing we haven't heard Spoons name that much, and that's good to protect him a bit from injuries..

Our secondary is the key to stopping the lambs. NE is a dimensional force and Spoon getting back to playing speed makes this unit the best in FB. Need to cover WR's for the extra second and force Stafford to hold the ball...then our DL eats.

Completely agreed. The pass rush combined with Emmanwori's unique skillset is a combination the Rams don't have to play against with anybody else. Like when the Ravens with Hamilton blew out the vaunted 2023 49er team and forced Purdy into 4 INTs (at a time he was still on top of the world and not regularly turning the ball over).

I was amped up about the Emmanwori pick because I knew this was
a Kyle Hamilton type of player that Mac really needed, I didn't expect
him to be this good so early but the fact is he's only going to get better.
A player like this is rare, John aced it in this draft.

Exactly. For example, the 2013 team had some rare talents. You need some rare talents to be a perennial SB contender, and he's certainly one of them.

For example, this play. I'm not sure I've seen a play like this before (or would have to go back to the 80's NFL). Who else in the current league can do this?

Did we ever hear what the wrist injury was that pulled him from the game? He ok to play?

Different players, different situation but:

When Kam was available v Vernon Davis, the game match-up was different. 9rs would go from one week VD having 100 yards receiving and multiple TDs, to being invisible at (then) Centurylink after a couple of plays getting burned by Kam.

Kam did it with physical intimidation and Emmanwori is more of an effective coverage defender, but having a S that can remove a #1 option TE can be a game-changer.

I am a big Emmanwori fan, but I think we are getting ahead of ourselves. He got cooked off the line a few times. He didn't exactly slow down McBride.

McBride is the most productive TE in the league. No defender is perfect each game...to nit a few negatives against his dominant performance overall this season is an unbalanced perspective.

I guess I was responding to chrispy saying he could remove the #1 TE

Defending McBride was an awesome learning experience for Nick. I saw what you are saying, but dude is young and learning. Hawks do not have a McBride on the practice squad. Those were invaluable lessons. As they say, Nick's future is so bright he needs to wear shades.

That play is on his resume. As his agent, I'd be playing that play while negotiating for Nick's bag when the time comes. Something tells me there will be many more like that. Maybe some vs Matthew Stafford.:p:p

It would sure be nice to get Jones back for this game. We could use his guidance along with the Swiss Army Knife that #3 is.

you dont have to go back that far. You dont even have to look outside the team.

Worth the watch and the memory. Kam was just on another level. Might be my favorite Hawk of all time.

He's a goddamned Rook, eh?....I see Nick Enamworri as the second coming of Freak Hamilton/ Kenny Easley.
