Anyone think Russ was trying to sabotage the O last year?

This is such a weird question.

Wilson is obsessed with his legacy.

The last thing people obsessed with their legacy do, is purposely pile up Ls.

What I do think Wilson did is shake his coach off.

But for the rest?

Did you see him at the end last year? He was running for 1st downs. Taking hits. Not going out of bounds and sometimes not even sliding.

Is that the behavior of someone just mailing it in?

Wilson seems very egocentric, and I've always wondered if he might be a bit of a narcissist, but come he clearly CLEARLY wants to win every effing game. He does NOT want Ls on his record.

He isn't going to tank or sabotage the team. Especially when it screws up his career W/L records he worked so hard to build up.

Hero ball worked when he was faster and more elusive. It worked in 2020 until it didn't.

He only takes advice from Mr. Unlimited. He wants to be the hero.

It's really not rocket science to put 2 and 2 together. Based on his actions on the field. And based on his own admission.

Ahh so no proof just assumptions. Got it.

How dare you inject logic and fact in this. Haven't you figured it out? Wilson is the devil. Heck the war in Ukraine is his fault too. :sarcasm_off:

Lots to pick from...
To John63, unless Russ announced on TV that he checked out, or played hero ball, or didn't follow the coaches play calling, etc. It didn't happen, got it?

Just like you assumed Russ would stay with the Seahawks, however he’s gone now.

I did not assume I mistakenly took PC at his word. Something that will never happen again

As Mike Salk was pointing out, RW rushed for 180 yards last year in 14 games.

anybody else going to be mad if he ups it to 500 next year?

Or is Russ just a potato with legs now?

There must be 'proof' out there proving Russ wanted to stay as he announced on national TV that he is Seahawk for life. The evil Pete and John fake Russ's signature to void the no trade clause, right John? Our Russ doesn't lie, when he said he is a Hawk for life, that is proof enough that he is staying and will veto any trade offers.

I made a thread about it mid season. He was tanking so his new team would have to give less in trade and that's more weapons for him next year. It happened and now I'm over it. But yeah, he did it.

No, he did not.

It's hilarious that you actually believe a guy like Russ would tank on purpose. I'd be embarrassed if I had a take like that.

Don’t forget, the main thing, you also took Wilson at his word.

Could be that the Seahawks total rejection of KJ Wright especially after a more than solid year left a bad taste in both Wilson’s and Wagner’s mouth and they both saw the writing on the wall. Legends aren’t eternal (r.i.p. JH3), football is a business.

Hence, why both players seemingly lacked that overwhelming intensity that made them great and perhaps for the first time in their careers they were just going through the motions without the buy-in.

And it was pretty symbolic both players were traded or released on the same day. As it was just fate.

Yes. Russ stubbornly insisting on playing the game the way he wanted, so that he could show that his way, his arm, his ability was the way to win, rather than subscribing to the style of play we saw late in the year that saw us close out the season on a high note, was absolutley intentional. Pete waited 7 games to force the change in 2020 and 12 weeks in 2021 because I think he knew that the only way to keep Russ was to let him try it his way until it was obvious there was no chance that way was going to work.

And it didn't work.

I think you're pretty spot on with this. I think Russ basically went into sulking teenager mode after the press last off season. And I think you're correct - I don't think he was 'tanking' games intentionally at all - but I do think he was trying to force 'his' version of the game. I remember PC calling him out sorta (forget which game) "wish Russ could have helped us" - and Russ: "I'm gonna try and win. That's what I'm gonna do. Sometimes it works....".

So, I think he was just disgruntled and teenagery a bit. I don't think there was intent there - and he still has to make some numbers for his own contracts.

I think it was just the natural end to a bad relationship between him and PC,

yup

I think it was just the natural end to a bad relationship between him and PC,

He was all out putting on shows for his future suitors, at the expenses of Hawk's 2021 season. He rushed back for that too, he couldn't risk Geno start winning. He jumped right back to stop Geno starting, a risk he wasn't going to take.

Yup. rushed back and proceeded to throw the ball 40+ times in futility against a GB team we were running well against. But winning rushing the ball wasnt how Russ wanted it. 40+ throws in a game that we went into the 4th qtr in, tied, against 11 rushes. Why? Primetime. RW vs AR. he sacrificed the win for his ego there and throughout last year and he didnt care about the consequences because he knew he was out. Meanwhile, Pete's all bent after every game (until the last 5 when we started running again) and getting blamed for being the mastermind behind the offensive futility on display before then.

But it was Pete who made the offense fail last year...

Russ played 2020 for Russ until the ball was taken from him. Then he pouted in the offseason. He got a new OC (which i honestly think was a smoke screen because he only ever really played last year the way he always did and defended doing so - why would he throw Pete under the bus all offseason for how boring the offense is, and then run basically the same offense the next year and defend it?? And have Pete perplexed about what was being run?? Its THE definition of backwards logic).

He then played 2021 for Russ, and kept going with it again until Pete took the ball in week 12. We got back to balance when Pete did it in 2020 and looked the best we had all season when he did it again last year.

Let the broncos deal with Wilson's 'way'. Russ gave this offense and essentially the team a big middle finger last year and didnt give 2 craps about it because he knew he was out. yesterday, during the presser, Schneider, against Pete trying to respond, confirmed that Russ had already told them he wouldn't sign another contract with the Seahawks. Hello?!?!?! Russel Wilson had zero intention of ever suiting up for Seattle again after this season. He told Seattle Brass that. It was obvious all last season that that was the case.

It’s weird how some people haven’t seen Russ has changed. It was slowly but certain. It’s not 2015 anymore. His attitude and abilities have both changed. He used to have a game or two a season where he stunk it up. Then it changed. The last few years he had more games where we weren’t getting it done. We have all watched how he’s played. 2015 isn’t coming back. He looked good the last few games. But he was awful for many games injury or not. I’m sure he didn’t suck on purpose tho. But suck he did. I used to love the dude. It’s hard to fathom how he could be so good then be so bad.
