They are all looking for answers about what happened and it is pretty clear to everyone outside of Denver what went down. They came to play flag football coming from their creampuff conference and they had to actually play regular football and had no idea what they were in for.... Kam's hit on Demaryius set the tone and you could tell their whole team after that moment went "uh oh".

I will admit I did expect a good close game with the Seahawks pulling away mid 4th quarter or so but Bronco fans need to realize their whole team is soft and they ran into a team that plays as physical as you can get.

Outside of two preseason games against us (10) and the 49ers (10), the mighty Broncos never scored less than 20 all season. And everyone thinks they suddenly choked against the #1 defense after averaging well over 30 points in 16 games? Yeah.

It's even worse for them. Every other team in the league saw what we did and will now attempt to copy it. Those other teams won't have the personnel to do exactly what we did but, given how Denver folded, they only have to be 50% as tough to get a win. Next year could be a very tough year for the Broncos.

Denver fans think... "Denver beat themselves".

But I posted this on one of their boards:

Honestly, I don't think Denver or Manning played terribly. They accomplished their primary game plan. But their game plan plays into and underestimates what Seattle does.

Manning did what he does… completed many short passes… avoided sacks. After all, he set a Superbowl record for completions and was not sacked. The Denver defense accomplished what they hoped… they stuffed Lynch.

-------
The reason Denver lost??

In the Superbowl, the Seahawks defense did exactly what it does in every game. That is, they take away the deep pass, force check downs, come up and make big hits, no YAC, strip the ball, get turnovers. They give up the short passing game… but few explosive plays.

Wilson did exactly what he does every game… doesn’t put up big numbers… but avoids pressure and moves the chains in critical situations without turnovers, (underestimated). He will make one or two explosive/critical plays per game to secure the win.

Pundits and fans underestimate or don’t understand Seattle’s formula to win. As a Seattle fan, the common refrain we hear from every opposing fan base after they lose is… “Well, we moved the ball on your defense… but we shot ourselves in the foot. Wilson did just enough to beat us, but wasn’t anything special.

This may be comforting thoughts for these fans after a loss. But the reality is… Seattle did exactly what they planned to do (above).

----

Seattle is a bad match up for Denver. Denver is the opposite of Seattle in every way. The way to beat Seattle is to beat them at their own game. Be more physical, run the ball, stop the run, give no YAC to receivers, have a QB who can move and make plays outside the pocket. The 49er’s come the closest to accomplishing this.

Denver would lose to Seattle 9 out of 10 times if both teams played to their strengths.

The key to beating Manning has always been to pressure him and you must do it with 4 guys so the coverage doesn't break down quickly. He folds like a card table when that happens. That's easier said than done and exactly what the Hawks did in the Owl.

Well Salish brings up a good point. Someone mentioned that one of the teams that played well against the Broncos was Jacksonville; they just collapsed midway through the 4th quarter so the score doesn't show it. Bradley is getting that team to play tough like we do.

To be fair to Denver, very few teams really play as physically as any NFCW team. Carolina, NO on defense, Cincy, maybe Houston...not really even the Ravens or Steelers anymore. Playing our divisional rivals like we do actually raises our level of physicality. When we play other teams, that's when it really shows up.

I also believe there were games like TB where we lost focus as a team and overlooked teams. They won't ever say it, but it's true. Sure, you lose some individual matchups and some team's schemes will work here and there, but I think we overlooked a lot of teams and it led to close games. Our team was obviously ultra focused and had 2 weeks to prepare.

You see pundits that say SF wouldv'e beaten Denver handily as well (I don't think as badly as we did, but I think they beat them and hold them under 24 points). I'd also theorize that Arizona would punch them in the mouth pretty badly. I'm not sure AZ's offense would score enough, but their defense would also hold Denver under 17 points (SF's defense was statistically better, but AZ is strong on the backend, thus the better result against Denver). It's pretty telling when 2 teams from the NFCW would beat the AFC champion, and our 3rd place team would play them to a draw.

"Denver beat themselves". - Well what they do on their spare time with noone around is their business. As for the football game, not a chance

The Broncos are playing the NFC West next season so I don't expect them to have as good a record. If they win next year they will at least have earned it, unlike this season where they feasted on the worst defenses in the league.

Don't fall for what the media or Denver fans are saying. Denver did what they did all season.

Manning had a super Bowl record for completions. Demaryius Thomas set a super Bowl record with 13 receptions for over 100 yards. Welker had 6 catches.

The DIFFERENCE is Seattle's Defense. We were so physical, so fast, and so prepared that Denver could not get any yards AFTER the catch. They had killed teams with that all year, but the Seahawks had the ability to shut it down.

Denver did not have a bad day. They did what they always did. But Seattle shut it down so completely that it looked like Denver had a bad day.

A TON of Manning's yards this year came after the catch. They did what they always did this year, but we killed it.

That was a good post in the bronco forum. It was very accurate without being at all fanboy-ish IMO.

However I believe even 10 out of 10 times we would win. Barring many players becoming injured

As others have pointed out this team is just bigger faster stronger tougher both physically and mentally as well

Thanks, SHOCKER315. For putting it so well into words. Especially this - " Pundits and fans underestimate or don’t understand Seattle’s formula to win. Freakin awesome.

These Donkey fans sold their soul for another shot at the big one.

They went out and got someone else's legend. They rooted for him like he is one of them, but his heart lies in the land of Indianapolis.

They couldn't accept he is a choke artist. He is a paper tiger. Sure they said the same things about him when he was a Colt, but this time it must be different they said to themselves.

Just listen to the talking heads on ESPN, look at his stats, he is THE best QB ever.

Then he faced the 12th man and the ball went over his head. Then he threw his patent 3 yard crossing pattern and the LOB knocked his receiver 5 yards backwards in his ass. He was embarrassed in front of the largest audience in history.

Monday they called his stats a fraud, they laughed at him being the GOAT.

The real Bronco fans aren't wondering what happened. They know. They got the Colts old man legend. This is who he is. Just because he wears their colors now doesn't make him better. They know next year they play the NFC West and an improved Chiefs and Charger teams. They know the window is closed. They know the will keep paying the big-fore headed, sloppy-seconds $20 mill so they can't improve the defense. They know.
