Why do the Rams have our number?

All true, but you HAVE to disrupt Stafford and make him move his feet.

That was really the problem in the first game, not enough pressure on Stafford to disrupt his timing. So he picked our ass apart with easy crossers all day.

Yeah it should look better this time around with Spoon and Adams, but the challenge hasn't. You let Stafford sit back there with clear vision and a clean pocket, it's over. Nakua and Kupp are gonna have 150 yards a piece.
Agreed, but it's been this way for years.

They'll just flood the underneath zone all day over the middle, like they always do.

Run the TE through, LBer picks him up, slot receiver in behind it, wide open, over and over.

McVay has been doing this to Pete for going on 7 yrs. Still hasn't come up with an answer.

They have to out talent the Rams. Because they aren't going to out coach them.

Stafford might not be right, so...

On paper the Seahawks are the way better team, yet here we are, unsure if they can get it done against the tanking Rams in the midst of a reset.

I agree. I think that you need to gain every advantage that you can, and disguising your defense and mixing up your coverages can do that.

There is a sound philosophy behind having a simple scheme that is easy to understand and makes it easy for players to follow assignments, but offenses have become too complex for that.

There was an article on nfl.com back in 2021 that listed the teams that varied their defenses the most, depending on who they were playing. The Seahawks were not at the bottom, but they were near it:

I love Mike McDonald's "Disguise and Chaos" defense for the Ravens. I think he's the next defensive genius. He will be on defense what Shanahan or McDaniel is on offense. He became the highest paid defensive coordinator in the history of college football at age 33 for Michigan before going to the Ravens. (Another Jim Harbaugh to John Harbaugh connection.)
The style of defense the Ravens run, should be what the Seahawks run.

Stacked fronts, you don't know who is coming or dropping.

It fits Seattle's personnel perfectly. When they do spinkle it in they have a lot of success.

It seems that McVay is a better schemer that has a better staff around him. I've lost count of how many times the Hawks have looked completely lost out there against his team for whole halves or more.

This is especially troublesome with a hampered Brooks forcing Bobby to play 100% of the snaps wearing down in pass coverage as the game goes along. As we saw last week with the Dyami Brown TD.

Hopefully with our full compliment of safeties and DB's we can go dime for most of the game making sure those interior zones are covered up.

There's no way the Rams without either of the RB's that gashed us in week one should be able to force us to get out of this scheme.

There comes a time when two people just irritate each other.

That's the frustrating part about Pete. He does so many things so well and then he has blind spots that he refuses to acknowledge. Bienemy said it last week. Seattle is easy to game plan for because you know exactly what they're going to do. with someone like McVay its easy because he excells where Pete is bad and its just been a recipe for frustration.

You can see the confusion on the offensive lines that play the Ravens. Even Joe Burrow had to call time out twice in the first half because he wasn't sure what was happening. And the threat of pressure by itself will cause the QB to get rid of the ball quicker than he wants to.

This title of this thread reminds me of the Bill Burr short talking about female athlete pay compared to men.

As Seahawk fans, we have to pretend like it's some strange mystery why the Rams have us in the same position as Zed had Marcellus Wallace...

Pete is good a checkers, Sean plays chess.

It’s McVay. No doubt he was hired back in 2017 with the Seahawks on the franchises mind.

If you look at the rosters, we win this all day.

I’m not knocking PC here…just saying that it appears McVay has his number.
Correct observation (y)

Better teams win imo mainly.

Last 6 games? 3-3.
Last 3 games? 2-1 hawks.

The way that kick tailed to the right... just downright strange. Wind whipped up at just the last moment. That's the game for ya...
