The secondary is inexperienced and more worringly there's no edge control at the LOS. The Rams will give up a lot of big plays against both run and pass until they figure things out and become more disciplined.
Was it really necessary to let all those Rams free agents walk during the off-season? I guess they figured it was better to clear the decks for an overhaul in 2024?

No. The Rams could have kept Ramsey, Floyd, and maybe 1 of the DL. Wagner wasn't going to be retained at $10M with $2M in incentives. The Rams were still going to lose some talent on expiring rookie contracts and they were going to go into 2023 weaker than they went into 2022. The choice was to push all the chips in this year or release the expensive players on defense and get the young players some experience for a final big push in 2024. Teams need depth to win so preparing for 2024 seems like the better option. There's a big decision to be made before the Week 10 trade deadline. If the big names aren't happy with the development or management thinks too many of the young players are busts then blowing it all up and looking at 2025 or 2026 will make more sense.

Yes, quite q few rookies need to step up all over the roster. The defensive secondary is young, but promising. AD needs help rushing the passer or else teams like Seattle will triple team him. Lets hope that Donald becomes as familiar with Geno as he was with Wilson!
I imagine that we will see a lot of blitzing to hide Rams deficiencies on D.

I do believe you are underestimating the Rams this season.

*MAtthew Stafford is finally healthy and has been throwing dimes in camp. Last year the Hawks barely beat the Rams when we were playing John Wolford and Bakr Mayfield at QB.

* Our Oline is VASTLY improved. Jackson - Avila- Allen - Noteboom - Havenstein. Last year the initial starting Oline had three weak starters BEFORE the injuries started with little depth. I think we had 13 different combinations of an Oline without Stafford or Kupp. We had no running game because the Oline was garbage. Expect that to change.

*We are still without Kupp this game and that's a shame. But I expect Puka Nacua to step up big time as a rookie and may be a steal in the draft. He has similar characteristics to Cooper Kupp. He runs precise routes and is not scared to block. Also, Tutu Atwell has developed his route tree and has been working with Stafford in regard to timing, which didn't happen last year

Bottom Line, the Rams may still lose.
Both team's defenses are not great with the Hawks Dline being somewhat susceptible against the run game. Expect McVay to really use the run game early to test that Dline. The resulting play action passing game by Matthew Stafford should be accurate and effective. The Rams secondary is young and the Rams Dline is suspect against the run

Bet the over for this game. It may be a shoot out.
Rams 34
Hawks 31
If Atwell’s route tree has improved to include anything over the middle expect to only see him for 4-5 games this season. He’s like 160 soaking wet, that sort of frame can only take so many hits from 250 lbs linebackers

Good, ugly battle like most games vs. the Clams. I'm not buying the hype that the Rams suck. Hopefully they do :)

Hawks win 24-16 (late TD by them to make it look closer)

Tyler with a TD over 40 yards. Geno with a couple TD passes.
This. I think we still win but honestly don't understand the basis for the "bad Rams 23'" narrative.

Stafford is back. Sure they are down Kupp but AD is healthy. They had a down year last year but few teams can lose QB1 and succeed. The 9ers are an anomaly but as far as I'm concerned they have the best coach. Rams have a pretty darn good coach. Nobody has had any meaninful success with Baker Mayfield.

Ahhhh. Finally. That time of the year boys and girls. Seahawks football is back baby! We kick off the 2023 campaign this Sunday and hopes are sky high for Seahawks fans. The Rams come to town a mere shell of their Super Bowl team just a couple years back. I believe they are fielding 15 rookies on their squad.

Kupp is still hobbled with a lingering hammy and listed “day-to-day” and he flew out of state to seek out a specialist as he suffered a set back. Even if he suits up Sunday, he won’t be close to 100%.

Good.

Outside of an aging Donald who is still a force, and Stafford, there’s very little fan fare with these Rams. However it still is a division game so you have to throw out what you think will go down.

Having said that, the Seahawks are favored 5.5 coming into this game and I think that is being kind. Seahawks by 10 in this one.

Aros’ Fearless Prediction: Seahawks 27 Rams 17

Aros’ Fearless Record: 0-0
A new season begins and the Hawks pull out the whipping stick. It's been a long time since we blew out the Rams. It happens today. Hawks 31, Rams 13!
Go Hawks!

Well I was for sure wrong, the Hawks D made the Rams look like a SB contender.

Nothing changes with the suck level of the Hawks D.

Am truly underwhelmed.

Well that was absolutely pathetic in the 2nd half.

I’ll take my crow with a side of dog chow. Hopefully I can find some dawgs on the d-line that I can share it with. But I saw absolutely none out there in the 2nd half, apparently everyone’s full and no one is hungry.

You could argue that the 2nd half was the worst half in Hawks history. Or at least way up there. Absolutely pathetic and embarrassing effort.

Looking forward to it!

Rams D prolly isn’t stopping much, so they’ll have to score quite a bit to win. Without Kupp. We have a TE out too with Hunter.

I’ll go with Nacua having a lovely first game and Atwell stepping up. Rams 38, Hawks 35.

I like to be hopeful.

Two things to say:

1. Nacua had a lovely game. Atwell stepped up.

2. The Hawk stadium is beautiful. The weather was awesome and I was in great hands. You all do get loud.

See, this is a thing about you all.

I have said nothing to rub the loss in. This comment is damn respectful.

No response. Had you all won, you’d all be chippy at me.

Alice, don't think so. Most of us are respectful of other team's fans. There are a few though, but that is the case everywhere.

There are a lot of quite reasonable folks here.

That said your team laid a lickin' on ours. Our D was invisible for plays over the middle and Stafford had loads of time to pick the dubious coverages apart.

If things don't seriously change Goff is going to do exactly the same in Detroit.

The only game that was even remotely close to our performance last Sunday was on November 4th 1979, ironically at home against the Rams when their defensive ends were Fred Dryer and Jack Youngblood. We had one first down the entire game and our total offense was a minus 7 yards. We ended up losing 24-0.

But that was in our 4th season EVER, 44 flipping years ago, and we weren't expected to compete. Quite different than being favored and lauded as one of the competitors for the Super Bowl. I can't recall a game being so opposite of expectations as the one we saw last Sunday.
