I'm sorry,............but this is a bull**** rule (probably instituted by the league's contract with Nike).
WHATEVER the lame*** reason is, for this rule,...........it's just STUPID.
All this tells me is,..........Nike's afraid of dealing with TRUE retro equipment. And to say a team CAN'T wear their ACTUAL retro helmets is just plain bull****!!!!!!
I (for one,..........and I'm probably in the minority) actually prefer the old colors. LOVE the new helmet. Love the OLD-SCHOOL colors better.
Let's not go all 1984 on the retro jersey issue. Seriously,.............you can wear your retro jersey, BUT,......you have to wear your team's current helmet design.
Can we PLEASE stay with the ACTUAL designs worn in the past (instead of creating some weird "hybrid"),..........for history's sake?
