The following season, Seattle wins the Super Bowl, but it is Avril and Bennett that applied the pressure throughout the playoffs. Last season, Irvin had no memorable hits, let alone sacks, on gimpy Aaron Rogers in the playoffs and Brady had all day to throw in the Super Bowl after Avril left the game.
Sure Irvin looks great against Oakland, but come playoff time, I don't recall any major impact.
Good player but worth the high dollar second contract? More debatable than Carpenter, but still, he has not truly lived up to his potential when it comes to the playoffs.
Disagree with me all you want to, but the proof is in the pudding. The front office is looking to salvage what they can from a good, not great, player. They are not going to pay the high asking price.
