three thousand six hundred seconds
sixty minutes
four quarters
the length of time before my grand entrance
until then I am hiding
a secret
all there is, is darkness
I wonder
where will I fall
who will catch me
there's an awkward silence
then
a roar
a sudden jolt to set me fluttering into the air
I'm free
I'm alive
like a feather
I float aimlessly
surrounded by thousands of others that bare my resemblance
the lights are bright
and the air is cold
but I am warmed by the faces of those around me
some, with tears of joy
others, agony and pain - I can only imagine
through the chaos
I see a hand
grasp at the air
I descend at my final resting point and land smoothly
in the arms
of Victory
I Am Confetti
(and I wear number 12)
-I have no clue who wrote that.
I heard it on NFL LIVE today and Googled it a dozen different ways to no avail. Which is especially a bummer, because I think it tremendous. And I need to know who wrote it. Anyone know?
I didn't know when I initially heard it that 'it' was confetti.
It only sounded like my idea of what it's all about. The promise and purpose of victory. What it feels like to ME, when it occurs.
Only... I wouldn't quite know what that feels like following a Super Bowl.
Until this coming Sunday.
Then I'm gonna know.
For certain.
