Not a surprise to me. I was critical of the draft pick based on his size. Dude cant even get thru camp non contact drills without hurting himself. Unlikely he will be able to hold up to the pounding an NFL defense can dish out. Hope i am wrong but the results are not impressive so far.

There seems to be a plethora of "what if" situations on the board concerning our WR's. We have a game in a mere two days. Don't you think that we can get some solid information regarding the playmaking ability of our new players? In just three weeks, our starting line-up will be clear as crystal. We will know whether or not we miss Tate and other players that were on last years winning team. Where is the confidence in Pete and John? Frankly, it does no good to call into question each other's wisdom as it is all pure speculation at this point.

No porblem. Hey I'm sure there are several NFL teams who would love to have an expert like yourself on staff if only they knew about your expansive resume.

I'm going to be the bigger man and let this drop even though you decided to make it personal have a nice day.

congrats on being the bigger man after making it personal after putting me 'at the top of the list'. Great job, mission accomplished big guy!

You started it my man but at this point i'll just say GFY.

So, not only are you not "the bigger man," you are now a liar as well?

To the topic at hand, I think Richardson will be fine.

So for some unfortunate reason our WRs ended up being:

Percy Harvin (I believe in without a doubt)
Doug Baldwin (should be better)
Jermaine Kearse (should be better)
Bryan Walters.(should be better)
Ricardo Lockette (should be better)
Phil Bates.

I ABSOLUTELY would not be OK with us going into the regular season with our 1st half schedule with these receivers. Walters, Lockette and Bates have a combined 8 NFL catches.

Russell got murdered last year running for his life on pass plays trying desperately to find open receivers, so don't fool yourself we need Richardson and/or Norwood to contribute and compete.

What if I told you that the 4th receiver, 5th receiver (and in 2012, 6th receiver) on the Denver Broncos' depth charts have combined for just 29 catches over the last 2 years - Andre Caldwell with 1 (2012) and 16 (2013), Trindon Holliday with 2 (2012) and 0 (2013), and Matt Willis with 10 (2012) and 0 (not in the league in 2013).

That's an average of just under 5 catches per player per year. You put too much stock in 4th-6th wide receivers, most of the time we play with just our top 2 on the field anyway.

We still have Miller, Willson and Lynch to catch passes alongside Kearse, Baldwin and Harvin. Not to mention of course that Norwood and Richardson will certainly play a part this year.

^ If true, then why spend the top pick you have and #45 overall?

What's up with all this nonsense?

Does anyone realize that Rookie WR's don't contribute much to begin with? It's one of the hardest positions in the NFL to learn... why would anyone freak out about losing inexperienced guys competing for the 4th through 6th slots on the team?

Mind boggling.

Not saying you're wrong, but I've heard the same about QB, CB, OT, and DT in recent years.

Also not saying it means anything, but many rookies in this class are earning high camp praise.

Only time will tell.

I think the OP's concern is valid, so is talking about it on a forum dedicated to talking about the team. Not sure why so many people have to jump all over him like they're doing in this thread. If you don't like what he's saying, that's perfectly fine, ignore the thread and move on. I love .net but some of the people around here...smh

Hi, welcome to the internet. It's a wonderful place for the exchange of ideas and the debate over the validity of those ideas. Sometimes the debate will be civil and well-supported on both sides. Sometimes, it won't. But rare will be the occasion when an opinion is given, and everyone will just say, "Yeah, that sounds about right." Differing opinions will be voiced. If everyone who didn't like the OP's opinion just ignored the thread and moved on, then this thread would say, "I'm concerned about Richardson," followed by a bunch of posts that said, "Me too." Gripping.

Wow, this thread derailed into a chicken little pissing match.
That's why I hate Fantasy Football, just because you won your little fantasy league doesn't mean you are all the sudden an expert! I'll side with the real experts, JS and PC, you know the guys that won the Super Bowl last Febuarary over egotistical fantasy football geeks.......sorry!

I started reading this thread, and couldn't believe what I was reading. I still can't. It's as if we never even won the Super Bowl just a few months ago. So much bravado and misery. I'll echo the sentiments of what the hell is going on here? Just chill people, and trust in the guys who brought your beautiful city it's first Super Bowl (and major championship in ages. Shoutout to my fellow Christ the King alum Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm for winning 2.) trophy, EVER. I'm also one who grew up remembering the general rule of thumb that it takes a while to master the craft at WR. History is littered with WR's who took a while before things "clicked." I remember being amazed that Koren Robinson had the year he had in only his 2nd year in the league. Ahhh, KRob, what could have been. For the record, I was completely thrown off by the PRich pick, and usually when that happens the dude ends up pretty damn good. Pete and John and the crew know their shtuff.

I'll leave you with this on the eve (afternoon) of the 'Hawks taking the field to dish out another dose of pain and humiliation to the Broncos. The message from Sherm is quite fitting too.

That reminds me, did you ever take inventory of all the .NETters you met on your incredible journey last season?

You have got to have one hell of a digital photo album.

There's disagreeing then there's someone just being a dick that's what I'm talking about some people take it to far . As far as talent evaluation this isn't rocket science give me a break.

You're right..because at least with rocket science - there is actual science involved. Trying to pretend you're a genius and know better when a whole team of professional talent evaluators with actual experience and careers built around the subject misses on a guy is a joke though. Sorry if saying so makes me a 'dick'. But it need to be said.

I'm going to put you at the top of that list of so called geniuses that think they know better because your no different than anyone else here .

I'm new here and I'm not taking sides but it sure looks like you started the personnel stuff with this post Hawknballs. I don't blame him for getting perturbed .

Cool story. I was simply generalizing about how absurd it is when know-it-alls come around and pretend they are smarter than an entire staff of football professionals. If someone takes that personally that's not really my fault. Probably time to remove the AOL floppy and unplug.

I made no personal attacks. This whole thread has just become absurd. Everything I have said has been a legitimate reply to the armchair scout sentiment and even apologized in advance if anything I was stating came off as dickish as that wasn't the intent. Seriously people these days are so sensitive about every little thing.

if you can't handle a little friendly sarcasm, the rest of the internet must be horrifying.

the fact that anyone got banned for anything is just weird.
