Taking advantage of a cheap CJ Stroud contract while they can, is my guess
100%. They seem to be making some large 2-3 year deals right now. It’s smart to play it that way if you can. Bein fn in the talent while you have a qb making next to nothing (comparatively). They are going to make the AFC interesting

Def. a pattern. Get a QB on the cheap on his rookie deal and take advantage. Been going on for a really long time.

The Bills are a trash heap right now. They didn't win when they were supposed to and they just keep getting worse.

As an organization you cannot trade a player who just restructured to stay with your team. Lockett isn't going anywhere this year unless he demands it.

At best, Diggs looked absolutely washed down the stretch last season. At worst, he quit on his teammates. Bills probably beat the Chiefs last year if Diggs plays like he gives half a crap. Allegedly a toxic locker room presence too. Bills are going to be stuck with a lot of dead cap, but moving him now was the right move. I'm not convinced this is going to be the great move for the Texans many are making this out to be.

Bills traded their #1 WR and lost arguably their #2 WR in FA (Gabe Davis). The draft is deep for WR talent so they should be getting a good young WR or two come April.

Diggs is still a very good player. He had 107 catches for almost 1,200 yards. And the $31 million cap hit for the Bills is very steep. I guess that the Bills thought that it was best to trade him because he only had a year left on his contract. Meanwhile, the Texans get a true number one receiver for $18 million next year, which is not bad.
