It's pretty amazing how much Pete has to dump into the defense, vs. McVay to get basically the same results on that side of the ball. (22 pts. a game allowed.)

Here's the spooky part. The Rams have already played the Eagles, 49ers 1x, and the Cowboys.

The Seahawks D are very likely to drop further in points allowed with this murderers row schedule upcoming.

The more amazing part is that the Rams are 3-6 while the Seahawks are 6-3 eventhough Mcvay is running circles around Pete. Just doesn't make sense. Maybe Geno is just far better then Stafford and covers up all of Pete's flaws.

Investment does not matter as long as our blitzes and stunts are figured out in five or less games. You have posted negatively about Clint Hurtt almost as much as I have. Coaching matters more than investment and you know it.

Defenses play with different objectives when they're multiple scores ahead or behind. Context is important and raw data removes all of the context.

Posting "Ahkello Witherspoon | CC (Cap Casualty from Pittsburgh)" whilst using a different standard in "Bobby Wagner | 2nd rd '12" suggests an agenda. Picks are really only a measuring stick for those on rookie contracts. 2nd and later contract veterans are paid at market values. The cost to the Seahawks of keeping Adams for 2023 is $11M, and some of that would have been due if he'd been released earlier with an injury designation.

The op may have a point about the use of resources but his accounting is skewed.

In EPA/Play, Seattle's 16th, and the Rams are 23rd. The stats are skewed heavily by the Ravens game, so it's not very illustrative of where this team is defensively.
Agreed, however the Ravens and Commanders defeating our blitzes and stunts is an echo of last season's five good defensive games then figured out defense. It should be a cause for concern, since Hurtt was not able to adapt last season. Unless Hurtt can scheme new variations, we will be in for some long weeks ahead. The naysayers will pat themselves on the back about the "gauntlet" having been too much for our team.

Yes . Add the fact that the stretch of games last year when everyone thought the defense had "figured it out " was against some poor opponents.

Although .................... that last stretch of games last year didn't get in the way of extensive personnel and technique changes during the off season leading into 2023.

This year's new defense has yet to solidify.

You are right this D has NOT played its best ball yet... this opportunity is a chance for this D to make a statement. I'm expecting a high scoring game because it's a divisional game against the Rams... I wouldn't miss this game for anything!

Absolutely. But unlike last season, they're still pretty good against traditional passing/rushing offense. The problem, at least on paper, is that they are horrendous against the screen game and even worse against mobile QBs, which means the Niners and Eagles will be a tough test for the defense.

It’s a shame really. Shanahan at 6-3–genius, McDaniel at 6-3–genius, McVay at 3-6–genius. Pete at 6-3–fire him and the entire coaching staff.
You missed something, not just Pete and his coaching staffs, must fire John Schneider as he clearly mismanaged and over paid the roster. Must change ownership too, as she steadfastly refused to fire Pete and John.

Read and learn hedgehawk, the more you read fade's post, the clearer what needs to change before we can win again :)
