^^^^ I assume he's misremembering Walsh's blown chip shot FG as an extra point (about the same distance, IIRC).

I knew what he meant. I just wanted to point out that he was wrong.

Yup, you always have to try and push buttons. But YOU are wrong because the FG was shorter than an extra point. Suck that.

How does that make me wrong? We didn't win a game based on a missed extra point like you claimed. Move the target to save face

Wait, so missing an XP is somehow 'luck' now and not just poor execution?

The old XP distance was a joke, made back in the day when actual football players had to kick them instead of position-specific specialists who do pretty much nothing but kick.

Not lucky. Random. Arbitrary.

I'm there with you. I think the PAT from the 2 with its high percentage of completion has given us the idea that these things were sure things. Moving it back to the 15, it's more clear now that this is still a very precision operation to get a kick in the net. I don't see this as luck. The farther you go out, even from the 2 to the 15, the more focus and skill it takes and it's not as automatic, I think instead of taking away from the game, it adds to the drama of the game.

Interesting, two fields of thought, what to celebrate vs drama of the game

I'm a drama of the game kind of guy

However I do understand the "what to celebrate" folks. Celebrate the touchdown, not the PAT

Or another way to put it, I remember growing up always wanting to check out who the leading scorers were that season always expecting to see my favorite running back or favorite receiver only to find out it was always a kicker :)
