This board is a psychologists wet dream. We are #1 in the NFCW, are 5-2, have a legit D (which most questioned at the beginning of the season), an O with many weapons, an O-Line that just contained the best D in the league, just added a great interior lineman (our biggest need on D)....AND still the sky is falling for 1/2 the board.

Geno needs to play better...I get that. The O as a unit needs to play better. I believe they can play better because I've seen them do it. Oh...just a reminder...we are 5-2 and 2nd seed in the NFC.

The Giants are miserable and I think it contributes to Leonard’s low production this season. I’m eager to see him with all our talent around him.

I’m also eager to see how much of this year’s salary NY pays. Next year looks pretty sweet, only $5.9m base and no bonus due.

Overall, I think this is a great move akin to getting Micheal Bennet. Bonafide stud. Only 29. Under contract for 2 years. And don’t we have an extra second from Denver?

The Giants are stacked on D and terrible on O.

Seahawks has an extra 3rd from Denver.

Okay, but playing bean counter isn't going to help you win this season.
We also have had massive opportunity cost with some of our big time trades. Most of them haven’t worked out in our favor. It’s part of the reason why the Seahawks had to rebuild their roster.

For the record I don’t think this guy is a bad player. I also think they correctly identified our weak spot on D.

That being said, I think it’s also fair that some people are skeptical here. It’s a steep price for a 29 year DLine that isn’t under contract beyond 2023.

Adding a DL is nice,

But I would rather have an All Pro LG, that can help us booster the OL by

1. Protecting Geno

2. So we can run to the left and not have negative yards.

If you extend him, it does. 😝
I'd like that if it was possible, the Hawks are very tight on cap next year with only 40 players signed through the season, I'm not sure they could afford to extend him.

Apparently we're actually getting the later pick. Think we're getting the Saints third rounder and not their own.
Oh, I wasn't aware of that. It added to the fun of rooting against Me3. Oh well, it's still fun.

Reminds me of the Sheldon Richardson and Clowney trades. Giving up draft capital for rentals that don't stay long term.

The difference is we just had two of the best years of drafts in team history, and an extra 3rd pick next year from Denver.

So giving up a 2nd is not even close to the same as the desperation trades with picks we couldn't afford to give up.............on aging rosters.

Not. The. Same. At. All.

But I do love the "I know better than John Schneider, one of the greatest GM's in modern football" hot takes.

Amen.

Seattle fans are so bipolar. They get pissed off when the Mariners do nothing to improve their team. They also get pissed off when the Seahawks make a move to improve their team.

Perpetual negativity no matter what the outcome is.

Huh? We have a healthy Cross who just played very well against the #1 edge in the game. Not sure I follow your logic.

While I would have preferred a true 0-tech, I don’t see how anyone can be y happy with this trade. Defense wins championships.

He’s been horribly used by current Giants D-coordinator Martindale. In his last season under Graham, he had 11.5 sacks.

Coming into the season, the Giants were regarded as having the best interior line.

Put him in a position to succeed, and succeed he will.

Pete Carroll said it in his second year of being a Seahawk coach when we passed on Andy Dalton. Quote, we would fail sticking a rookie QB behind this team. We must build up the team first then stick before we stick a rookie QB into the system. We went with TJac that year. We built a solid defense and the following year stuck in a rookie QB named Wilson. Remember the success rate of first round QBs is only 35%
Not only this, but I clearly remember PC and JS saying they weren’t going to be chasing the QB position and that they would let it come to them. Thus, the Wilson pick in the 3rd round. Maybe it’s Lock. Maybe not. How many teams have chosen QBs high in the first round, over and over again to no success. Build the team and the QB will come. I think I heard that somewhere in a corn field.

The fact that Myles Garret had his name mentioned one time related to a play speaks volumes about how well our line played and it's still not 100% intact.

I watched Cleveland run the football extremely well, and were unwilling to challenge our secondary much and played the screen game, very effectively. Adding a LG does nothing to help either of those problems.

talking about LG. Cross is LT.

Seahawk had plays running on the left for like no gain or negative yards.

Two things are true:

1. We got robbed.

2. We needed this guy. The team's been one injury away from being down to two DL for 70 snaps a game, two of those guys haven't been having much of an impact, and Mone's return won't fix things. Pete and John found themselves dealing from a position of weakness because they let too much of their depth go in the last couple years and didn't get enough reloads in the draft, and when that happens, this is the sort of price other teams can charge you.

So just something to think about...when everyone cheers over the team jettisoning guys like Al Woods, Poona Ford, Quinton Jefferson, AND Shelby Harris all in one offseason, this is the kind of result that can happen. DL depth is worth its weight in gold.
Other than 'good that they did something' - I don't know much about the dude -

I've asked 1 time before - but why did we let Clowney go?

Since RW started dropping off a few years ago, I've been looking forward to PCJS drafting the next QB. I've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting...

I thought that, for sure, this year they would go for Stroud, Richardson, or Levis. They were perfectly positioned to fill the team's greatest need.

Looks like they aren't into bundling draft capital for the 2024 draft either. I wonder how long we'll be waiting to actually see any attempt whatsoever to acquire a QBOTF? I'm not optimistic it will ever happen.
I think this might be Pete realizing that his window is closing -

Maybe he'd given up on the QBOTF and it's 'next guy's problem' -

But then, why the Hot Tub Time Machine QBOTF tour this summer then?
