IMO, is Rice the most ineffective WR we have. He makes the most unbelievable acrobatic non catches I see.

Tate and Baldwin, very consistent, underrated, they come in and get the job done.

Outside of these three, Kearse is the only other WR with 3 catches, no Williams to be seen.

We need some Harvin and bad. If he comes back, our mighty mouse WR crew of Tate, Harvin and Baldwin would be preferred IMO.

Rice, Tate and Baldwin all have been good at times but far from great. None of these guys can take a game over, and none of them put fear in the eyes of a defense. Hopefully once Percy gets back and draws more attention it will make these other 3 guys even better.

Seems a bit odd that Rice is the only one of our (starting) receivers that is actually built like a prototypical wide receiver. All our other guys (Williams notwithstanding) are smaller in stature, even Harvin. Contrast that to our Cornerbacks who are both 6'3"+. Rice needs a serious breakout to persuade me that he is worth the Cap hit next year.

No way we re-sign Rice. I just don't see it unless he takes a huge, huge pay cut.

Rice is a good player, but our entire passing offense has been less than stellar to date. He makes amazing catches(JAX TD, Pat's TD,@Chicago TD,sideline), but for the price he's getting paid, I think someone could do the same for cheaper.

All of our WR's are pretty good but none of them really dominate on a game to game basis, but it's really due to the commitment to the run game and how much the ball is spread around.

The whole passing game is a mess right now. The O line, Wilson and the WRs are leaving a lot to be desired. Having expensive WRs seems like a total waste in this offense. No way do we pay Harvin and Rice over $8 mil each next season. Those guys may want to go to an offense in which they can put up some stats anyway.

Yeah it's looking like it's goona be near impossible to keep Rice considering the other players we have to pay for. I don't doubt everyone wants to increase their production, but it's incredibly hard for WR's to excel in the type of offense we run. I doubt any one that has been on the team as long as Rice, Tate, Sherman, BB, etc. have would want to leave this team considering the success and how the team has bonded over the years.

I hate to harp on the oline but they're the biggest problem we have in the passing game

I don't see the whole passing game as a mess. Baldwin has been making huge catches all year, Kearse has shown he can go up and get the ball (very tick tack call against him) Tate has play good, Rice really is the only one who hasn't shined. If you look at our WR as a whole Rice is the only one over priced, we haven't seen Harvin and all the others are on Rookie contracts. Very inexpensive if you ask me.

Any WR group will look underwhelming at times when the best player is sidelined and the pass protection struggles. This group will look a lot better with a fully healthy Percy Harvin playing next to them and you should see a lot more separation all the way down. Imagine a third and 8 with Harvin in the backfield, Miller on the end, Rice and Tate wide, and Baldwin in the slot. That is a top 5 passing personnel package in this league.

Rice played well against the Jags, two touchdowns and a bevy of yards. I know, the Jags.

Tough decision regarding his cap value next year.

I'd say Baldwin is our best WR at this point, we'll see when Harvin gets back I'm sure he'll be the best when he does.

I'm finding myself less than thrilled with both Rice and Tate so far this season.

Anyone else get the feeling Rice is not quite right? I think his knee is giving him issues. He is not getting any separation and his cuts are not as sharp and abrupt.

Tate looks good as does Baldwin. We need Kearse to step up and get Williams more involved as well.

Our wide receivers have been a little disappointing this season outside of doug. But really the lack of pass protection is a big reason for our passing struggles.

I agree 100%, Baldwin is clutch. Rice has had one good game against one of the worst teams in the NFL.

I think the biggest problem with our offense "right now" is the OLine. Our biggest problem this year with the offense is Bevell's play calling.

We are not low on talent at the WR position. But we do need someone faster out of the gate, like Percy. He will have a huge affect on our offense.

Rice gets way to much love. Don't get me wrong I like him but he's not a number one WR and has never been a number one WR. There's nothing wrong with Sydney Rice he's just not as good as everyone thinks and we throw the ball 20 times per game.

I think you also have to look at the most reasonable way to allocate money under the cap. We are a running team that plays great D. This season, we are the only team in the NFL paying two WRs over $8 mil each, and we are probably going to finish in the bottom 10 in passing yards. Despite this, we will likely be a playoff team with a great record.

We can win without expensive WRs. Harvin is obviously here for a while with the guaranteed money, but I doubt they can they pay Rice too next year if they want to extend Sherm and Earl. How about keeping Michael Bennett for longer than 1 year as well? This team can and should focus its funds elsewhere in my opinion, because I don't see us suddenly becoming a passing team that relies on elite WRs.

The one caveat to this is that at some point in the next few years, Marshawn is going to hit the wall, and the drop-off will probably be very sudden. It happens to all the great RBs, especially the ones that run hard. When that happens the goal of the offense may change somewhat if Turbo or Michael don't rise to the occasion.

This.

Cracks me up people are doubting our recievers. Are we forgetting so soon what this very same group did last year? Kind of hard to have a passing game when RW is running for his life emmediately after the snap. the one game he did have a little time, we threw for over 300 yrds.

IMO, Harvin wouldn't be effective right now either, other than plays where he's running out of the backfield, screens and Kick off returns. Can't get him the ball if RW has no time to let the play develope.

We just faced 3 of the toughest defensive fronts in the league in the first 4 games. have some patience, it'll come around.. Our recievers are just fine, including Rice, So is our QB. I would like to see Kearse get some more playing time, seems like he's making big plays every time he see's the field.

I feel like our pass game would be miles better if Wilson didn't hold on to the ball for an hour literally every single pass play, but it's hard to see what's going on

You guys are still stuck on the precision passing-attack of the Holmgren era and the fast-twice decisions of Matt Hasselbeck and the old-school West Coast Offense. This Bevell offense is not that! Not even close. This is a TYPE of WCO, but more a long pattern, big-play offense that takes time to develop from the WR's. It takes O-line players that can sustain blocks longer than traditional WCO offenses need, and with they guys we have, it is simply difficult to do right now.

Take the blame OFF the WR's and on the offensive plan and onto the O-line. For some evidence, look at the 4th quarter when Bevell FINALLY went to a quick-hitting offense. We moved the ball and found WR's open.

It's NOT the WR's.
