I definitely think the money is there .... It will be weather the fit is there with PC/JS.

Use the Jared Allen and Finley/Rice money.

2015 and beyond we are actually in great shape financially and should only get better as the cap rises.

This is what I was going to say. If the off the field stuff checks out, see if he'll accept the money we had budgeted for Allen.

If not, then pass.

Obviously Jackson will most likely carry a bigger cap hit, but he is also a far more valuable peace than Golden.

Regardless of what happens, it's a pretty safe bet to assume that PC/JS are doing their due diligence with Jackson.

Ultimately he'll prob end up getting paid by the Jets or Raiders but Im going to hold out some hope. Hopefully not signing Jared Allen turns into a blessing here.

Doubt we get a 4th round comp pick if we sign DJax. It essentially becomes a wash.

Nah. Jackson was cut so the comp picks don't apply with him.

Same with how we will get nothing for Red Bryant and Chris Clemmons.

Eagles won't get a comp pick, correct. But the signing of DJax by us, I believe, still washes our FA loss of equal value.

Ah gotcha. Good call my friend!

They obviously know what they are doing. 4 years running things. Totally rebuilt the team of aging players, 2 division titles, 3 trips to the playoffs, 5 playoff wins and a Super Bowl win.

Whatever they do works for me.

If it was for the deal Tate turned down, absolutely, which I think will be the offer if the Hawks make one.

Ouch. That does stir the pot a bit. Must have been a legit concern to swallow that much.

Are they paying DeSean anything? Where does that 6 million go

Against the their cap. I don't think they owe him anything anymore. He gets to keep the 10M signing bonus from last year along with the money he's already made and that's that.

Absolutely one of my favorite players in the league. Pete is uniquely situated to get the real info on Jackson as well, PC is SoCal royalty, even in the hoods.

If Desean was asked "money being equal who do you want to play for" I'm guessing Pete/Seattle - where real g's can be themselves. Desean seemed to be angling for it the other day.

Stop thinking about this in terms of money OR help at WR. This guy is a known gang affiliate of the gang variety and is close with other crips who are currently on trial for murder. While he's not a suspect himself I've already seen tweets from some of his teammates in relief that this happened.

This guy is a potential Hernandez waiting to happen. He's a POS.

If you still don't care, you can take your greed and shove it up your....

Didn't people say the same things about Marshawn? I remember him being called;

- lazy
- thug
- problem waiting to happen

I'm not for signing Jackson, but I think you're overreacting on the whole "he's the next Hernandez" thing.

People have the shortest memories, the same exact things were said about Marshawn. Out of anybody in the league, I would think Pete is the perfect fit to get this kids life back on track. The work Pete does to make these players better people is huge. Plus we all know how the media loves to blow this "thug" crap out of proportion, hearing Adam Schefter say "throw gang signals" made me die laughing.

It's not the same at all. Marshawn doesn't ACTUALLY throw legitimate gang signs on the field and doesn't ACTUALLY affiliate with a gang where some of his close friends are on trial for murder. Jackson IS a crip. That article is only one of many regarding his issues.

Marshawn is a choir boy compared to this guy.

Its not the same? If memories serves me correct didn't he almost have multiple gun charges? I Know he def had atleast 1, Didn't he almost shoot himself? Also I have seen marshawn make many hand gestures that originated as gang signs. I've seen lots of NFL players do the same...You really think Lynch wasn't hanging with known gang members during his Oakland/Cal/Buffalo days? You obviously don't know as much about Lynch as you think you do.

Has Jackson ever even been arrested before?

Yes. Marshawn is a thug and there's nothing wrong with that as lot as it's not gang related.

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

As Richard Sherman says in his ESPN video that's included on the SB Blu Ray "I laugh when people call me a thug, because I KNOW thugs..........and believe me I'm not even close to a thug."

I know exactly what a thug is, I grew up on Hill Top in Tacoma in the late 80's and 90's. I've ran with my fair share of bad apples.

Marshawn is a thug, through and through. Marshawn throws gang signs too. Those signs he throws are Oakland gang signs. It's not a major deal though, he's not acting on it. Have you heard him talk when not in interviews?

Sherman is not a thug at all. Sherman is intelligent and well spoken. He's not interested in that lifestyle. The only reason he got called a thug is because people saw that one interview, noticed he's black and denigrated him the way that's socially acceptable nowadays as opposed to throwing the N word out there.

Like I said in the other post, consider WHY the Eagles are cutting ties with such a talent?

There could be numerous reasons...theyre sure floating the gang thing out there. Truth is its probably a mix of things. But a lot of the press coming g from the Eagles is speculation.

They're were trying to trade him...then suddenly didn't want to burden other teams so they cut him? And made this public?

There's more to this...and I'd bet its locker room related.

Depending on how much Jackson would sign for, it would likely cancel out our Tate comp pick. 6-8m gets you a 4th and 8m+ gets you a 3rd. I'd imagine if we did sign him it'd be for around 6m so they would cancel each other out. However, we're still set to get a 4th from Browner at at least we'd have one 4th from this offseason along with the 6's and 7's from McDonald, Breno, Thurmond, etc.

He received the 10 million signing bonus up front.

As far as cap hit goes:

$12,750,000 against the cap next year; $6,250,000 In Dead money; $6,500,000 saved by cutting him now.

If its true that he's a crip, what better team to sign with than the Seahawks? He'll be able to wear his colors on gameday.

Nah. Jackson was cut so the comp picks don't apply with him.

Same with how we will get nothing for Red Bryant and Chris Clemmons.

Wow....just wow. You have no idea what you want to get yourselves into, but have at it.

and you do?

For whatever reason, when Jax was on the trade block, Chip Kelly was up front with other teams as to what they would be getting. He went over they gang affiliations and locker room and off the field issues.

Teams promptly backed out and now the Eagles are getting nothing for him.

It's not hard to deduce.

Yeah, sounds like he really tried to sell that trade "I tell you what guys, we COULD get draft picks from you but what I'm going to do is tell you NOT to trade for Jackson because what we really want to do is cut him"

Curious, but where did you see him "angling for it the other day?"

I'm not doubting you, just wondering where you heard that. Jackson doesn't fit the prototype that Pete and John look for, but having Jackson and Harvin on the field at the same time would be insane. Then throw Baldwin in the mix for the intermediate and underneath stuff and I'm not sure you could cover our guys, period. I don't think anyone has that kind of speed across the board in their WR corps in the entire NFL, especially if you factor Lockette into that.

Funny thing is, we would be lacking a good red zone target on the outside, but with Harvin and Jackson, we would regularly be getting into the end zone from outside the red zone, if you know what I mean. Plus, getting DJax keeps him away from SF, who was legitimately interested in him as well.

Marshawn may know thugs, Marshawn may interact with thugs, but he is not a thug. By definition a thug is a criminal, someone who hurts people, someone who does illegal activity. Marshawn is a professional football player who grew up in an area with lots of thugs and gang members...........that does not make him one.
