Wow....just wow. You have no idea what you want to get yourselves into, but have at it.

and you do?

For whatever reason, when Jax was on the trade block, Chip Kelly was up front with other teams as to what they would be getting. He went over they gang affiliations and locker room and off the field issues.

Teams promptly backed out and now the Eagles are getting nothing for him.

It's not hard to deduce.

His 10.25M salary also probably had to do something with it.

True. That made the risk that much more unacceptable.

He's a hell of a player, no doubt, but cap wise, I can't imagine they'd be able to justify it. Gotta' take care of the ET/Sherm/RW/Okung, and soon.

Yeah, that does say a lot. I mean, they likely tried to trade him the last few weeks, and couldn't get even a late round draft pick??

If PC/JS are able to pull this off it would essentially be a trade of

Golden Tate for DeSean Jackson and a 4th (Next year comp pick for Tate signing) .....

Obviously Jackson will most likely carry a bigger cap hit, but he is also a far more valuable peace than Golden.

Regardless of what happens, it's a pretty safe bet to assume that PC/JS are doing their due diligence with Jackson.

Ultimately he'll prob end up getting paid by the Jets or Raiders but Im going to hold out some hope. Hopefully not signing Jared Allen turns into a blessing here.

Eagles are eating 4 mil this year just to get rid of him? Wow.

Almost as bad as the Seahawks eating $6M to send Housh down the road. Someone will sign Jackson but they better do their homework. At least we have moved on from Allen to the new obsession of the week.

At the price specified in the original post, I would definitely bring him in.

We've seen time and again that guys who don't give full effort and don't buy in to the team tend to end up pushed out the door sooner rather than later.

Man, it's funny. Hawks fans think alike. My first thoughts after hearing this was: I wonder how he would fit on our team for about 6 mil/year ?

So, how would he fit ? We already have someone explosive in Harvin. Jackson is actually slightly smaller, but might be slightly faster at the top end. He's also been pretty durable.

We could dub our WR corps: The Midget Sprint Team. No real red zone threats, but how in the hell would you cover these guys ? Harvin, Jackson, Baldwin and bringing in Kearse and Lockette ? They all lack height but they get such incredible separation they wouldn't need it. With our run game, damn that would be deadly. Talk about stressing Safety coverage out.

So, would he fit ? Does he block well downfield ? Not that I've heard, but two words:

PUNT RETURNS.

Championship.

Price is everything, and for sure @ $5 mil/yr. I suspect the gang stuff is almost totally a rationalization by Philly to offload Jackson who just didn't get along with the coaching staff. I'm not saying he isn't a player that needs to be handled by the coaching staff and that he hasn't been a locker room distraction in the past either. This player has been a 3 time Pro Bowl player and racked up 1300+ yds receiving last season. He's a legitimately talented WR. Price is everything and some team like Oakland or the jets will pay him what he wants if he doesn't want to came here for prove it $.

Doubt we get a 4th round comp pick if we sign DJax. It essentially becomes a wash.

Like I said in the other post, consider WHY the Eagles are cutting ties with such a talent?

Nah. Jackson was cut so the comp picks don't apply with him.

Same with how we will get nothing for Red Bryant and Chris Clemmons.

I definitely think the money is there .... It will be weather the fit is there with PC/JS.

Use the Jared Allen and Finley/Rice money.

2015 and beyond we are actually in great shape financially and should only get better as the cap rises.

Eagles won't get a comp pick, correct. But the signing of DJax by us, I believe, still washes our FA loss of equal value.

Eagles eating 6 mil and not 4.

Ouch. That does stir the pot a bit. Must have been a legit concern to swallow that much.
