Special team (bus) was in full effect.

Dee Williams and Shanualt need to be off the roster by tomorrow.

Bit an ugly win looks just as good as a pretty win in the standings. A dub is a dub.

Go Hawks!!!!

I am sure others also saw JSN after that third muffed kickoff telling Harbaugh to put him back there.

The Detroit Bears game, did the Lions "winning-ugly"? sure they did. How many Chief games were "winning-ugly"? Quite a few.

In the end, a W is a W, fans from the winning teams had the privilege to complaint that their team didn't dominate, their team "winning-ugly". Good teams often had a few winning-ugly games, while bad teams had a few almost there games.

It's such an odd circumstance with those two. They get limited touches, and THAT'S what they do with them. It's hard to argue your stance. However, I had a good discussion with someone else saying it should be on the coordinator. The discussion I had was with someone who's a GM for a restaurant. My point was: should mistakes by the workers be directly held to the manager? I personally said no because we should hold ourselves to our own standards and not rely on "managers". They're there to help guide and direct us. His view was absolutely on the "managers."

They have no business catching balls. Hell, put Lockett back there. Charbs. Anything is better than those two.

You could have a case to blame the “manager” for making the choice to keep putting those guys back there, but you can’t really blame a coach when a guy fumbles. That’s just a physical or mental error by the player. (Or a great play by the defense)

Schematically you can blame the manager for the return gaffe’s though.

Just wondering if you were saying the same thing during this run back?

Just got home from the game. I'll have to watch a condensed replay to get a better sense of everything that went on with the game, but two things that I could see all the way up in the 300 level:

1.) WTAF was up with our special teams? Kickoff returns and kickoff coverage were, so, so bad all game long. I mean, it was cold out there so maybe that had something to do with it but WOW.

2.) Shotgun snap 4th and 1 from the Goal Line? What? Why? Who? How?

But, the other take away is: We basically spotted them 13 points on special teams and flushed a minimum 3 points down the toilet with our playcalling... and we still won. Woohoo!

I am so disgusted by the sheer amount of shotgun we employ in this offense regardless of situation or field position.

I’m starting to think MM never met a 4th down he wouldn’t go for. Yeah, I get that Dickson was essentially unavailable, but come on. You know your offense absolutely sucks at short yardage. They could have had another 5-10 try’s at the goal line and still not get a TD. Taking a FG there is the correct thing to do every time when you know your offense very rarely picks up short yardage situations.

I’m ecstatic for the win, but damn does he go for it a lot in 4th down. Even when his top 5 punter is healthy and available. Is the field position game going getting lost in all of the analysis of game situations?

Yep, and Dickson had nothing to do with not kicking the field goal on 8th and 1

In the old days we used starters on special teams a bit. Teams is supposed to be getting better not worse. W.

I don't care about style points. I don't care if Geno throws 5 tds, I don't care if DK has 10 catches, I dont care if K9 has 100 rushing yards. I only care if the Hwaks win. Ugly or not a win is a win.

One of my least favorite phrases I hear these days…”Well the metrics say to go for it here….”

We’ve succumbed to this metric data mindset where we think we should default to some random algorithm or website that pimps data like some candy we have to eat.

Since when??

It won’t be long before we say “well the cyborgs say to go for it here”.

Or, “The Order is demanding you do what we say, er, I mean, has some nice ideas for you in this situation…”

Where does it end? At what point do we take the humanness element back and just go for it or not simply based on your own instinct?
