Will Pete be fired?

Just read the threads here and any other Seahawks forum to see you are in the minority. She's never seen or heard from and she gave complete control to the coach. She's an absentee owner.

Once again speculation opinion hang um high mentality, I don't care if I am in the minority on this issue, you should know that about me by now. I think stabilizing the franchise after Paul's death as well as the Blazers and all his other interests was the first priority, he had a lot, then finding leadership roles and a reporting system with Vulcan the through her is the next, then addressing his wishes about other assets and charity's. That's a lot of things to manage, I have seen her in the booth on TV at games etc so she is not ignoring the team.

Not to mention that groups of loud fans on message boards rarely ever constitutes a majority of any fan base. It doesn't even represent a majority of fans on said message board very often. All it represents is a majority of the loudest people complaining. Most fans aren't on these boards. Most fans don't see a team's record get better by a game for 3 consecutive seasons and feel like the team is regressing. This very small ecosystem rarely mimics the larger reality of a fan base. Sometimes people forget that.

As far as an owner is concerned, it's a business. If winning 10+ games more often than not keeps the cash flowing, THE BUSINESS IS WORKING! We may not like it, but that's the way it is

Well getting into sports as a business is a fools errand, operation costs alone can tank you if your not a winner and you only need to look at many other teams to see this. The thing about the NFL is if you own a team and venue then you own on a golden goose, value keeps escalating, now that doesn't matter unless you sell at some point granted. I think I seen where Seahawks are valued at like 1.5 Billion now, sale would be higher yet.

Now going forward the NFL has set up a NBA situation where half the teams will now be in the playoffs or close to it, that waters down the merchandising aspects in Cities not New York, Dallas, or Los Angeles, Popular players can drive a teams sales also, but typically big markets can have a better sales record unless you are a top team which we no longer are. 10 - 4 may get you in the playoffs now, but unless a lucky bounce happens your out after that.

Some teams can still be revenue monsters while being bad on the field. If your stadium isn't a financial boat anchor and you have solid media deals, you win even when you lose. The Mariners have been solid in cash flow despite being dreadful. Really only teams with relatively poor owners suffer because they have to leverage operating costs just to keep the team. If you're liquid enough to weather any potential operating losses, you'll get it back and then some when you sell. Team valuation is outpacing any potential operating losses by a lot. For now. Until the sports paradigm shifts in our society it always will

That still brings us to our speculative opinion that Jody trusts Pete to run the franchise for at least the next 4-5 years, and would probably never fire him unless the wheels came completely off.

Just because she may have enjoyed going to Husky games 40 years ago doesn't mean she's a huge football fan now, and more importantly has the stomach and acumen to make a decision like firing her head coach two years into his extension.

So speculate in any direction you want, we're still all arriving at the same conclusion.

Is there any proof or non proof that Paul didn't ask Jody to do the extension while in his death bed?

It's kind of hilarious this question. WE ALL knew this season was going to be a rough one. Even the most optimistic can only forsee 7-9 wins this year. Yet only 2 games in and people are already acting completely shocked and befuddled. The idea that PC will be fired is laughable. the entire point of this season was to grow and develop as a team to hopefully draft a franchice QB as well as continue to shore up the defense in the draft next year and hopefully have a winning record and flirt with the playoffs. But it's as if everyone is forgetting this.

Loss to the Panthers Wilson's fault (Wilson had a great showing against prevent defenses in garbage time)
Loss to the Falcons Wilson and the defense's fault (Wilson pads stats with garbage time touchdown making him look better on paper than he actually was)
Loss to the Cowboys Carroll's fault
Loss to the Packers Defense's fault (Wilson had a great showing against prevent defenses in garbage time, but was hampered by having no running game due to injuries)

That loss to the Cowboys still sticks in most of our craws, but if you want to blame simply the head coach for playoff ineptitude you may be a Russell Wilson mark.

That Cowboy's game is the 'FIRE PETE' crowd's calling card. They're convinced that every loss since then, regular season and playoffs, has unfolded exactly the same way. They bit hard on that Q shaped lure Russell's team floated out into the ether from that game on.

It worked masterfully. I did exactly what it was intended to do, fracture the fanbase. Like most people who get pulled out of a cult, it takes a long time for the de-programming to work

Next year will be the big tell. Cap Space and draft capitol SHOULD do wonders for this team. Pete is here through next year for certain. Beyond that? Many factors could come into play, but its MHO that Pete leaves on his terms and doesn't get fired.
