But Celab is a generational talent. There are a ton of interesting developing stories out there -
Caleb will be a little better this year - I think. Not great or even good - but maybe edging up into serviceable for a .500 team.
I am very curious to see how the Vikings do with their current plan of putting every single egg they have in the JJ McCarthy basket....him never having taken an actual NFL snap. I guessing we get to se Sam Howell at some point.
The Pittsburgh QB room is a hot mess - starring Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and the Ohio state rookie. Ouch.
Pittsburg will revert to historical form. Pound the ball, play tough D, and hope the QB situation is better, or next year they get another good draft pick......... or they sign a QB. I hear there is a Manning that could come out of retirement... or maybe ???????There are a ton of interesting developing stories out there -

In one year, the Broncos went from giving up 52 sacks to 24 sacks, and all they did was replace Russell Wilson with a rookie, and promoted their fifth round pick from a few years earlier to starting center after losing their previous center in free agency.Williams, Geno and Darnold were all top five in sacks last season. Going to be interesting to see if any of that changes. Williams better hope his sacks drop considerably, he had 18 more than Geno even.
This would not surprise me considering some of the rumors we heard about him prior to the 2024 draft.![]()
QB Williams sought to avoid Bears, book details
Quarterback Caleb Williams looked to find a way around the NFL's collective bargaining agreement in an effort to avoid being drafted by the Chicago Bears, details from a forthcoming book reveal.www.espn.com
According to this article, Williams actually pondered playing for the UFL over playing for the Bears.
No chance do I think that would've actually ended up happening, he would've found a way to pull an Eli move and play for some other NFL team, but wow, what an endorsement. And apparently he wasn't Waldron's biggest fan, either.
With the Bears' history, one shouldn't blame Caleb for wanting to avoid them. This would not surprise me considering some of the rumors we heard about him prior to the 2024 draft.
I am old enough to remember Archie Manning and the New Orleans Saints.I dont know why any player who expresses a hope to NOT be drafted by a hirrible team would be seen as being a character issue. In any other professional field, a kid coming out of college would want to play for the organization who has their collective stuff together and provides them a positive track for growth and success. As a matter of fact, if your neighbor's kid who studied architecture chose to take more money to work for a firm with a reputation for failure rather than taking less to go to a top flight firm where he could learn more and grow quickly, everyone would say he had a character issue and was prioritizing cash over career.
I get that there's a draft and the goal of it is to match great players with teams who didnt finish well the year prior. But there is a difference between building from a slump and perennial ineptitude. I wouldnt have wanted to play for the Bears either. The risk of getting injured due to poor line play or having your brain scrambled as a result of being pummeled to death over consecutive, aimless 'building' years is more than a logical reason to want to play elsewhere, money be damned. What good is that fat first contract if there isnt a 2nd one that rewards growth and stellar play on a team on the 'come-up'.
