Why run a play there?

Just let the clock run down to the 2 minute. Instead we get a penalty and have to waste a down.

Not sure exactly when you are referring to, but when I saw it there were 2 more seconds on the game clock than the play clock. Then the penalty stopped the clock until the next snap. They kind of had to run a play.
