For years, Warren Moon was a fantastic ambassador for the Seahawks. Well spoken, good on camera (he and Angie Mentink had a fantastic weekly Seahawks show on KING5 during the season), and was the color analyst alongside Raibs. Hall of Famer, 1989 Man of the Year…
And then…
Allegations of inappropriate behavior with an assistant or something. If it happened, shame on him. But this has now been many many years ago. I have a hard time believing an organization as class as ours couldn’t find it in their collective heart to make amends.
He didn’t murder anyone. He didn’t commit some egregious crime of public record. So why the complete blackballing after all these years?
I just saw him being interviewed on GMFB yesterday. He was the same succinct, well spoken human he has always appeared to be on television. And clearly still a big Seahawks fan.
When asked, after all the trophies and accolades he’s accomplished in his career, which one was he most proud of. He didn’t flinch. He could have said Canton, 100%.
Instead he said the Man of the Year award from back in 1989. He said because it signified best who he believes he is as a man and someone who cares deeply about community to this day.
I’m a huge believer in giving people second chances.
Why haven’t the Seahawks as well?
