For years, Warren Moon was a fantastic ambassador for the Seahawks. Well spoken, good on camera (he and Angie Mentink had a fantastic weekly Seahawks show on KING5 during the season), and was the color analyst alongside Raibs. Hall of Famer, 1989 Man of the Year…

And then…

Allegations of inappropriate behavior with an assistant or something. If it happened, shame on him. But this has now been many many years ago. I have a hard time believing an organization as class as ours couldn’t find it in their collective heart to make amends.

He didn’t murder anyone. He didn’t commit some egregious crime of public record. So why the complete blackballing after all these years?

I just saw him being interviewed on GMFB yesterday. He was the same succinct, well spoken human he has always appeared to be on television. And clearly still a big Seahawks fan.

When asked, after all the trophies and accolades he’s accomplished in his career, which one was he most proud of. He didn’t flinch. He could have said Canton, 100%.

Instead he said the Man of the Year award from back in 1989. He said because it signified best who he believes he is as a man and someone who cares deeply about community to this day.

I’m a huge believer in giving people second chances.

Why haven’t the Seahawks as well?

It also had to do with his two DWI's, this is around the time Leroy Hill was having issues if I remember correctly and Hamlin had his street sign incident, there was a ton of press about the DWI's and he was painted pretty bad, image for the team was taking hits left and right.

The Hamlin sign incident ....I remember that. I always wanted Hasselbeck as our color guy. No offense to Moon. I do know for every one thing a "bad actor" is caught at there is almost always more. Probably corporate policy and attorneys dictate the rules.

My personal experience, in a union as an office manager...there were guys trying to full body hug every woman that came along. You have to shut that down. The women become targeted, victims and so does anybody trying to stop them. Lust can be a sickness.

It might be that the team just has too much good PR going lately to risk it.

Regardless, I'm guessing he's not being blackballed as much as he just wasn't exceptional enough for people to make a big push to bring him back into the industry. If he did make a comeback, I doubt he'd be embraced, but there probably wouldn't be picketing either. In summary, I think people have simply just moved on.

Agreed. Too bad cancel culture got him this bad...

This is the world now. Unfortunately.

These people doing the cancelling, can go back in time to see if you've made an unpardonable offense.

For sure, why risk opening a can of worms

I liked the guy as well, but post playing career he did have several “slip ups” with both DUI’s and domestic violence issues. Then came all the stuff with the assistant…just too many mistakes over and over to look the other way anymore. In fact I do think they gave him a second chance a couple times lol

Yep, it wasn't just one incident. It was multiple that established a pattern of behavior they weren't too keen on.

My bad. I forgot about the other incidents of misconduct. We reap what we sow.

Very few people can play at elite level. Lots of people can coach, analyse, talk, or otherwise front for media. The public perception of a person's character matters. Gruden is done, Sanchez is done, and Moon is probably done.

He beat his wife, how many chances did the guy need?
I think he pled no contest to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge years ago. Not a good look but I don’t think he beat her lol. Battery carries a felony. A misdemeanor domestic violence charge is automatically 4th degree assault, I think depending on state anyways. It could literally be as minor as an argument if anyone felt threatened
