The OP is right. Not counting Jax, the Seahawks have given up 40% of their completions to TE's.

By comparison, TE's represent only 12% of our offenses completions.

Why would you exclude JAX? Obviously excluding one game but including the HOU game where we gave up a gajillion yards is going to skew those numbers. I can manipulate the numbers by excluding both JAX and HOU, too. Also, our secondary is dominate, so that would explain those proportions. Doesn't mean our TE coverage is bad relative to the rest of the league.
Why would I include Jax?

They don't count for anything. All they do is skew the numbers. That is possibly the worst offense of all time. Most of their yardage came against our second string. All that does is give us no real information.

You don't include Jax if you want to do any serious investigation of how our defense has played.

Also, take out the 11 of 36 catches the TE's for Houston made and the % of catches made by TE's actually goes UP, not down, so your point is lost.

Anyhow, all I was trying to do was show that the OP had a point. Everyone up until then was basically shooting him down. Now when Scotte and others come on and actually start rationalizing why the TE's are getting so many catches, that's helping the OP and others understand the situation. Simply denying that the OP's observation is valid isn't getting us anywhere.

Because the NFL is a copy cat league, and with the success of Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham, they're loading up on tall, powerful TEs? Sometimes you have to do what you can to minimize the damage. Houston has some very good TEs and Greg Olsen is similarly excellent.

Greg Olsen, Vernon Davis, Owen Daniels . . . Probably three of the top ten TE's in the game . . .

That also helps explain things a bit.
