Right now if you didn’t tell me Seattle had a new coach, I would think it was P.C. not a knock on him but it was definitely a staple it seemed of his “bend don’t break defense” and “keep it infront of you”
This is a league-wide thing. Part of the reasoning being that, as a defensive back in zone defense, you can close on the ball much more effectively when you're moving downfield. You don't want the receiver getting behind you in short yardage situations.
