Disagree. Hansen would get a roaring applause.

Well they ALL get a roaring applause. Because they're raising the flag. Even the losers like Trent Dilfer get a roaring applause.

I'm not sure you fully appreciate how loved that man is in Seattle right now.

Well, I understand that. But a large portion of the crowd isn't from Seattle. I'm assuming a large part of the crowd from Seattle aren't Sonic or NBA fans. I'm sure he would get a great response. But I bet Alexander, Holmgren, Hasselbeck or somebody directly related to the Hawks would get an even better response.

Clay Bennett. Get the crowd into even more of a bloodthirsty frenzy then they (we) already will be. Then he can jump on Robert Swift's shoulders and get the hell outta there !

Its the home opener vs SF. Clay Bennet would probably get a good response. I don't think any flag raiser is going to get that stadium any more or less jacked.

I love the Fred Couples idea, just not for the home opener. Chris Hansen would also be a great choice, but like many have said it needs to be a Seahawks for the home opener. I'd like to see Alexander, Engram, or DJack. I think i'd prefer Engram he'd P & J for sure.

Personally I think about 50% of the crowd wouldn't give a crap about Hansen. Which is pretty much true for all the flag raisers who are not directly Seahawk related.

I'm going to guess you're a Blazers fan.

Has Chuck Knox raised the flag? I'm not really familiar with who has or hasn't. He was the first coach to put us in the hunt; I grew up with those teams.

He has raised the flag

They do when they make absolutely no sense outside the fact that he was a 49er and if that's the joke; pretty tasteless joke. I'm assuming the poster was generally interested in people's opinions on whom they genuinely believe could/should raise the 12th Man Flag. Alex Smith has never been involved with the Seahawks Organization, the Pacific Northwest Community nor has been an icon outside of the NFL and therefore has no reason to take part in that tradition.
Wooooooooow...

I think the CLink would go nuts for Hansen. I know I would. That guy is a legend in Seattle already.

All Hawks fans know that this is going to be a special season -- so the person who raises it needs to be someone who represents Seattle and its team's championship aspirations really well. Keep it simple, I think, and pick a Seahawks great - Jones, Largent, or Alexander would do the trick. No to Chris Hansen or some other "suit" type.

For a moment I thought they meant the kicker who played for Wazzu, then I realized it was the guy trying to bring the NBA back.

If we're stepping outside football, then I'd rather we let Drew Carey raise the flag. The NBA is the most boringest sport outside of curling. Soccer, at least, is a real sport. One with a rabid following in Seattle. One that we actually HAVE a franchise for. Why give the honor to a guy who wants to sell us tickets to a league that is so two faced and phony as the NBA?
