Randy has made several bad plays in the outfield this year. He's probably the team MVP right now, but he is a** in the field.
And if we're talking about because people just don't like him and/or are finding ways to criticize him......come on. NOBODY gets more flack than Julio.

I like Julio but he has a track record of being complete ass in the first half of the season and star in the second half. He is paid a ton of money to be good ALL season. He will have slumps, it's normal but this is the first time he's been respectable in the 1st half of the season. I'm not saying he's bad at all he just can't put it together for a full season, maybe this year he will?

He still swings at way too many sliders that end up in the 1st base dugout. I would throw him that pitch every single pitch until he learns to lay off of it.

Ok, please don't take this as bashing or attacking Julio. That's not my intent at all. You're right that Julio is off to his best start ever at the plate, and he absolutely deserves credit for that. But for whatever reason, people tend to get on Randy over his supposedly poor defense, but the stats that we have to work with don't really back that perception up. He's actually been considerably better than Julio on D this season.

Randy has 0 errors, a fielding % of 1.000, and an outs above average of -1.

Julio has 2 errors, a fielding % of .985, and an outs above average of -4.

I'm just saying that I think people tend to over exaggerate Randy's supposedly poor defense. He's really not as bad as many make him out to be in the field. Personally, I think it's because some have decided they just don't like him, therefore they're looking for reasons to criticize him.

Cant record a fielding error when you don't make an effort for a good number of balls heh

Julio is like an 7.5, Griffey was a 10. I have seen Julio make spaz moves at the last second on really hard plays. I still think he’s a good CF, but Griffey was perfect. Victor is pretty good out there I think. That catch that dislocated his shoulder was Griffey-esque. Reminded me of that little Spider-Man guy we used to have.. Sam Haggerty

I'm not disputing that. In fact I already agreed with you that Julio often times is criticized pretty unfairly, but if it bothers you that Julio gets treated that way, why treat other players that way?

It's lame when it happens to Julio, and it's just as lame when it happens to Randy or any other player.
