Which Line Was Better Today - Offense or Defense?

I think my vote goes for Defense. In the 1st and 4th quarters they got gashed by runs between the tackles. However they had one sack and would have had another for a clutch stop in the 4th quarter if the phantom "helmet" penalty wasn't called.

The offensive gameplan should have been to roll out left on pass plays and always run right. Pass pro on the left side is much better and run blocking on the right side is better. It's a very strange situation we have.

The defensive line actually played a pretty damn good game against the pass. We were a little porus against the run but that is to be expected from an option attack. Schofield was actually pretty effective as a rusher.

O'Brien played pretty good, others got it done but it wasn't domination. Felt more like defense was better at the line of scrimmage.

We didn't give Cam Newton much time to throw. The pass rush was pretty consistent, Cam was just doing well at getting the ball out quickly.

Easily the D line...The oline looked absolutely brutal but at least the D line did a few good things. Lynch was shut down the whole game and Wilson had to take it all on himself to win the game

neither one. both were getting pushed around way too much.
They were bending but didn't break.
The combination of RW's 300 yards passing/ Defense pretty much contained Newton, and Earl Thomas single handedly rattled the ball lose for the Seahawks to recover, AND, both sides won the game.
We had an away game in the East, at 10:00 AM ,against an excellent Panthers Defense, put the game away when it was most needed.

They both sucked.
If they "Both Sucked", then what did Carolina's Panthers do? in their own Eastern Time Zone Stadium, with ALL advantages?

Carolina dominated the line on both sides. Their d-front was in Wilson's grill all day and the only time we ever got pressure on Cam was in the 4th quarter when we finally decided to blitz. The only reason we won was because we got one more explosive play and one more key turnover than Carolina did. A performance in the trenches like that against SF next week will get us facerolled. Man, did we sure miss MRob lead-blocking for Beast. I'll take the win for sure, but it did not inspire the confidence I would like to have going forward. Our D-line needs its wounded warriors back immediately.

On the lines? Absolutely bullied us.

Our DT's stopping the run and OL opening holes for the run both were weak! They both need to start moving people off the line of scrimmage....that's been a huge problem going back many years!

Like choosing between a nagging back and the flu.

At least with the D-side, we know we will get better. The nagging back? Less certain.

In any event, congrats are in order. The ugly wins count the same as the pretty ones.

This one is easy - Defensive line was better than OL. DL wasn't good against the run but OL was much more pathetic. OL couldn't block for almost 3 1/2 quarters today. Cable better light a fire under them and quick.

Defense. Carolina got some rushing yards against us (and they usually do that), but we made plays in the passing game. The nicest thing I can say about the OL is that the Panthers are a good line... but that good line whooped our OL up and down the street vs the run.
