I never understood the thought of “reaching” for a player. If you like that player, chances are, at least one or two other teams also like that player as well.

But, you would rather risk and wait until later and then draft them?? That’s a dangerous game you are playing and you would lose out on that player if they get selected before you can pick again.

I would rather draft them when I can than lose them because I thought I can draft them later.

I believe all teams have prospects that believe will be available when they draft, at least, they have a perceived “range” of there they will be drafted and if they stray away from that even just a little, they are likely gone.

They say don’t draft for need but for best available, in terms of depth wise, if you have skilled players already and you draft the same position that rookie will play, that rookie may not see the field enough to warrant that draft pick. Maybe down the road, sure, but first rounders, I want them to see the field immediately and pay immediate dividends.

Seattles need for talented offensive lineman has been a pressing need for so long—I can’t understand why it’s not a “want” for Schneider at this point.

His strategy and plans have not faired well as Seattle is consistently ranked well below the average talent for NFL offensive line.

This guy would rather work his magic with castoffs and try to make chicken salad out of chicken shit and for the longest time now.
I have seen the Seahawks screw around with trading too much thinking they can get either player A or B than once the pick gets to them and in the meantime both players get selected than they trade down again with the same thing happening resulting in a poor draft. If you like a player just stick and pick!

710 saying the Hawks may trade for Cleveland Browns 3-time Pro-Bowl guard, Wyatt Teller.
NOT reporting anything, but Bump and Stacy hearing this could go down today.

This would cement it the notion that Seattle will very likely not draft an offensive lineman with the 18th pick.

If this happens, I would not be surprised if Seattle does not go offensive lineman until Day 3 and strictly for depth purposes.

Wyatt Teller, would be a good get for Seattle but not sure how much Seattle gives up to do so.

Wonder if this talk just stems from an article posted yesterday or real internal talk.

Would be kind of weird when you could have probably signed one of Daniels, Becton, Zeitler or Jenkins for relatively cheap. Jenkins is the new guy for the Browns that are making people talk about Cleveland having a logjam at guard now. Some think he'll battle for LT, some think they'll trade Teller.

Teller had a down year last season and is 30 years old. I don't see going this way over free agency. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Ten picks in bottom third of the rounds is weak & stupid, it's not the ammo some think it is. If we stay as is and don't get an OL at or near 18, we will not likely get one to upgrade this season.
Trade up, work to find trade partners.
#18 & 50 might get us to 10.
Both 2nds gets to about #24.
One of our 2nds & 3rd, higher 2nd.
Trade up in the 4th.

I want one, maybe two NFL quality OL.
Then one starting caliber defensive guy, at whatever position after an OL is taken.
My third wish is Harold Fannin Jr. If they can get him. I think that is a reasonable goal & expectation.

The consensus draft boards have Booker as the top IOL going around 25 followed by Zabel at around 35 and Jackson at around 40. Taking one of those at 18 seems to be a bit of a reach, while we could trade down given the pickes we currently have I think the best option is to trade up from 50 (or 52) into the early 2nd round to get one of those three.
But we must!!! And we should have overpaid for both the FA OG's this off-season!!! Otherwise, we just aren't trying enough.

There were at least 4 guys that looked like all-pros compared to what we have on roster that signed for reasonable contracts in relative terms. No need to exaggerate no matter what side of the fence we are on.

No doubt, for once it would be nice to have something happen. Bump isn't someone who would just throw it out there.

Based on your post, I don't think I'm the one exaggerating.

Ok, your prerogative of course. But I think any one of Jenkins, Daniels, Zeitler or Becton would have been a huge upgrade over any one of our guards based on how they performed last season and how ours performed last season. Is that an exaggeration?

Take a look at any one of those guys contracts that were given out. I don't believe any one of them were overpaid in the current market and to me even reasonable. Is that an exaggeration?

I think you have unrealistic expectations if you see Cooper Kupp, JSN, and Noah Fant performing like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and TJ Hockenson.
Never said they would.

In this offense, it will be the Running Game that is mostly featured with some Playaction.

They don't need to be Jefferson/Addison/Hockenson.

They just need to catch the ball when it's thrown to them and make a play when the need arises.

(though I have more confidence in Kupp and JSN than Noah...)

BTW, do I think we go 14-3? Probably not.

But I do think we will win 11-12 games (13 if things break right) this coming season as the schedule looks pretty doable.

If Seattle goes into the season without drafting a single OL? Then, yeah, JS is done and should be shown the door with a boot lodge up his backside.

How completely and utterly irresponsible and incompetent would you have to be to go end last year with one of the worst rank oline, do nothing in FA except get a one or two depth players at the position and tell yourself you did enough after you’ve publicly stated this offseason that you may have to over draft or over spend in the position but you gotta get something done.

Would you see red if JS & Co. drafted a RB/FB before an IOL? It's been awhile since we've been able to run the ball even when the defense knew we were running.

It seems like every year we pick a position in the first round that wasn't our biggest need. I am hopeful this year we don't pick another guy everyone has to immediately look up and then post videos that justify the pick. Our OL has stunk for years so I would prefer we just grab a OL that is a consensus good OL such as Booker, Zabel or Simmons. My hunch is our 3rd round gems will end up being more turnstile. Let's try for once to pick someone most have as a true first rounder rather than someone we want and think has potential. That doesn't work out for us.
