What do you think if Rodgers and Lockett join Raiders?

With Rodgers a FA, and Lockett likely to be cut. Would Brady pair them in Vegas? Could Pete manage Rodgers' personality? Would Chip's scheming extend Rodgers' shelflife by another two years?

I think the Raider should sign Rodgers as Jets will be paying some of his $$, and the Raiders have Brady to keep him honest, Carroll to motivate him, and Chip's QB friendly. With Rodgers on the cheap, the team could use the extra $$ on OL, RB, and defense needs.

I think Rodgers is done. Not because he can't play anymore, but because he's reached the point where his pay and off-field distraction level has exceeded his talent.
Jet's will be paying, won't they? The Raider can pay very little.

Maybe Lockett will go to KC. He and Travis Kelcie can talk about the training camp where the Seahawks “cut” Kelcie. Argh

I don't believe so. None of Rodgers' 2025 money is listed as guaranteed. The Jets would have to guarantee $35M of the $37.5M he's due before the new NFL year begins in March. The Jets have said they won't do this. The downside of this is the Jets will have $14M of dead money accelerate into the 2025 cap compared to declaring him as a post June 1 cut. That's how both sides wanted the contract. The Jets wanted no guarantees and Rodgers wanted an early exit if wasn't going to be retained. This is becoming normal practice. Smith had a February guarantee date in his contract last year which forced an early Seahawks decision. Rodgers will be free to earn as much as he can.

Can threads not be titled like it's news when it isn't? Nobody is reporting that there's any talk of something like this happening.
I agree. 0% chance of this happening.

How does the thread title indicate that it's "news?" A poster posed a question in the thread title. A question is not news. All he's doing is thinking out loud, proposing a what if. Perfectly appropriate.

Having said that, I don't think there's very much of a chance of Rodgers playing for Pete and/or Brady. Both of those guys impress me as a bit of a control freak, and with Rodger's well-deserved reputation of trying to have things his way, I can't see either one of them agreeing to such an acquisition.

Besides, even without the control aspect, it doesn't make a lot of sense to bring in a veteran quarterback like Rodgers or Wilson when you're in a rebuild mode as the Raiders obviously are. They are not one or two players away from being a championship team.

I'm pretty sure the titled has been edited since I posted that. The way it is now is fine. I don't remember exactly what it said originally, but it made it sound like there was a report that this possibility was being discussed by the Raiders front office.

Leaping at the opportunity to make their intentions clear, numerous NFL front offices expressed interest this week in quarterback Aaron Rodgers playing elsewhere, sources confirmed Tuesday. “Aaron Rodgers feels like he could be a great fit for the culture of other places,” said an anonymous NFC general manager among the flurry of teams across the NFL frantically stating their commitment to keeping Rodgers off their roster.
