What can we do to fix our defense?

That is the problem, a HC changes the system to fit the players he has and the situation. We dont and that is a problem.

We need better players. That's really just all there is to it. The DL has a whopping two starters on it.

HC is a different job than DC. The old adage that people rise to the level of their incompetence might be in play here. In any case, I'd prefer him over Norton.

Tedric shouldn't start anymore but Bradley was only available for one series.
Blair had some big hits but missed a lot of tackles -- I figure Diggs will maybe play more
And King was awful -- huge step down from Tre

Dan is a DL guy and got some of the best pressure this team has ever had. Secondary is Pete’s baby. I’d be fine with DQ coming back as DC but even if it’s just like DL coach/assistant HC I’d be fine with.

I tend to agree with this. We’ve had a series of below average drafts and there isn’t a lot of young talent in the on-deck circle.

Then that goes back to HC for picking bad players. All that said change the system to suite what you do have. That's what NE does, that is what good teams do. Example today JJ should have been double teamed all game.

I know you're talking about quality starters, but it sure feels like we are playing with 9 players out there sometimes, especially on the DL.

We need to scheme for the opponent. We don't have the players to just play the same all the time. You know Matt Schaub is going to throw a ton of RB and TE short dumps and screens and not bomb it down the field, so why not adjust?
