Really don't understand how New England is #5.

His first and last name's first letters comprise the same two letters used to abbreviate tuberculosis.

If our offense had gotten more points, we'd still be #1. Hope Bevell busts it out early against S.F. I'm not sure that wet paper bag that Green Bay calls a defense, especially their secondary, qualifies the 49ers for #1 status; but whatever. Especially since the 49ers defense looked very pedestrian.

The 49ers have become an offensive minded team since mid season from last year. If the defense was as good as it was in 2011(largely the same players then as now)... we would be unbeatable. That was when Carlos Rogers played out of his mind and Brown had a good year. Now the secondary is the definition of average at best. Hurts the entire defense. On one hand, Rodgers is always going to get his but still they are capable of playing much better.

Yeah, if a team scored more points or gave up less points I'd suspect these things would affect where they appear on a power ranking.

In other news, if I could piss diamonds out my d!ck, I'd probably have to deal with a lot of erecticle discomfort, but my wife might also be prettier.

c'est la vie.

I think if anything, the Broncos should be #1. They looked nearly unstoppable in that game.

Denver will get exposed... again. Seriously, they played the NFL equivalent of the University of New Mexico, don't kid yourself... And after breaking the bank on Flacco, it will be years before Baltimore can contend again, IMO.

Not always, he was held to 12pts at our house last year. then again, we actually have a good secondary..

On another note: if we had a dominant O and D line, we'd be unbeatable too. funny how that works...

If you didn't post douchey stuff like this, people wouldn't think you're a twat shortly after joining our forums.

What Roland said was completely valid. Apparently having a great defense (7 points against last week) and grinding out a low scoring affair against a team with a top 5 front 7 isn't as impressive as throwing the ball around on a limp-noodle defense and giving up 28 points to a team with no running game and a bad o-line...

If we had scored probably one more TD we would still be #1.

I don't give af if we're "power ranked" #1 or #32 in week two of the season.

Well, to be fair, let's put it all in context...

Personally, I'm fine being in second place, 1 back of a perennial Super Bowl contender who just beat a perennial Super Bowl contender who is, oh by the way, a few spots below us in said power rankings.

Geeeez, does anybody remember checking these things just to see if were in the top half of the league?! lol

Also possible is that the teams have always been thought to be close and the 9ers beat an 11-5 division winner and were only losing for two and half minutes of the game, whereas the Seahawks beat a below .500 team and were losing the entire game until 10 minutes left.

Not saying this justifies the changing of positions in the rankings, but it is another reason why they may have changed.

Either way, regardless of intention, I thought the original statement was kind of a funny one.

To be honest, that makes both of us, although it seems between us I might be the one not taking it that seriously. ;)

As for me being a douchey and a "twat," as you've said, I suppose so?

I honestly feel like that game was more on our defense than on our offense. Our offense was playing behind all day. Our offense has improved since then. Kaepernick has gotten a lot more comfortable.

NFL.com slightly agrees with you: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100000 ... skins-sink

I don't think there were any innocents there. ;)

The 9ers played really poorly and the Hawks played really well is kind of the long and short of it for me.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Seahawks beat the Niners this week, but the Niners keep the #1 position? Wouldn't surprise me one bit, with the national media saying that San Fran is the better team, that it's just impossible to win @ Century Link.

I think the big question is how good are the two teams we just faced. Carolina caught on fire towards the end of the season and that front seven looks mighty impressive but we won't really know how good or bad they are until later in the year, GB is leaning on Rogers more and more it seems and besides being a matchup nightmare against the Niners, you really don't know how good or bad they will be this year either. If they don't improve that defense they will not be making the playoffs IMO.

Long and short of it we both did what we were suppose to do. Get the win. We did in a grind it out fashion and they did it in a shoot it out fashion and you know the NFL will always lean towards the higher points even though defense win championships. Either way it doesn't bother me as we are less than a week away from settling this little debate and I can't wait.

Like the teams credo this year. Leave no doubt.
