We’re running the table, and here’s why:

We see it every year, football is a game of attrition. Our younger talent is much better than the 49ers younger talent.

We’re beating them twice and defeating the ravens in the bowl. Ain’t no way Russ lets himself lose to Earl, here’s why; their qb is hurt, odds are he breaks down.

Where does this expression come from?...Running the table. have any of you tried running a table?

RIGHT

Nobody is running a friggin table. And to me, This Seahawk team needs more pieces to compete for a title. If that means running the table, I dont see it with this defense.

Aight?

Yes, I have "run the table" a time or two. ;)

This saying comes from playing pool. It means to sink all of the balls on the table, not giving the competing party a chance to even shoot. In pool if you sink a ball you get to shoot again and keep shooting until you miss. Only if you miss does the other party get to shoot and keep shooting until he misses.

I tried running with a table once. It got my heart rate up just fine, but strained some upper body and core muscles, and it was freaking awkward. I decided it was safer to just use a weight vest if I wanted extra resistance.

I think we will beat Carolina as long as we show up and play like we mean it, which I think we will. Carolina is a franchise in chaos. We should beat Arizona, as long as we don't take them for granted at home. That sets up the big battle for the division in week 17. Which team has more key players injured, and, has players to step in and step up? I don't see how our young backup talent is superior to SF's in any clear and convincing way. (But I'm willing to be convinced, anyone gonna post a player-by player analysis of the two teams?) I say the injuries and availability of key players are the important part. For example, Quandre Diggs has become a super-important part of our D. If he goes down, we're in a world of hurt. Pete hasn't shown a lot of confidence in guys like Blair and Amadi just yet. Shaquill is on the injury report, and he's been balling out. We lose him... that's a huge vulnerabiity where there used to be a strength. There's little margin for error in our linebacker corps. Bobby, KJ, Kendricks, all need to be healthy. Maybe Barton and BBK could step in and surprise, but I wouldn't count on it. Our D-Line, we do have a rotation, but will we have enough healthy guys at key times to get pressure on opposing QBs? Clowney, Reed, Ansah, QJeff, others, who will get it done?

It's going to come down to who has shit for luck in the injury department. The 49ers are pretty beat up in some position groups. Will our coaches be able to scheme to take advantage of that?

If you break down the two Super Bowls the Seahawks lost, we lost them because of major defensive secondary depth issues that cropped up at the worst possible time. SBXL, we lost SS Marquand Manuel in the 2nd quarter. His replacement was a man-off-the-street free agent Etric Pruitt. Steelers identified and targeted him and burned him on the Randle-El TD pass. In SB49, I say we win that game if Jeremy Lane doesn't go down with a blown ACL on his pick of Brady in the end zone. Then Pete puts in Tharald "Toast" Simon, who gets targeted and thoroughly abused by Brady and the Pats, targeted every play seemingly. Inexplicably, slot corner Marcus Burley is inactive for the game, healthy scratch AFAIK. If Burley goes in instead of Simon, we probably win.

So, yeah, it probably will come down to key injuries and which team has the players to step in and do the Next Man Up thing the best. What evidence besides homerism towards our own players do we have that our young guys who step in will be any better than anyone else's? And which young players will it be?

I know its beyond laughable at this point but here's my reasoning, Prosice (lol hear me out) is do or die. He has three opportunities +whatever he gets in the playoffs to demonstrate to the league that he can play runningback in the nfl.

Then there's that, I dunno, best deep threat player in the league who's been MIA for a month due to a shin, remember tyler lockett? We'll rest Clowney Ansah this week and see what we have, maybe we'll finally get to see Ugo and/or Blair.

We're about to start using Gordon like Baldwin on 3rd down, Hollister is a good TE who had a tough game, he's gonna be a good one. Travis Homer could be a diamond in the rough, he finishes runs.

Edit: Forgot to mention Reed, he's now up to game speed, we rest up the nascar package for the playoffs we'll be a real threat.

Playoff Russell Wilson is F*ing awesome.

Don't forget the Griffen twins playing out of their minds and getting better.

I have to say while I do not share the confidence, I agree with the theory.

Pete and John play young players early in the season. It can be rocky, but it creates a lot of player development, especially in this era of the NFL when full contact practices are rare.

Those young players get more development than similar situations on other teams, typically, because we'll play the best guy, regardless of seniority, so our young players -- especially undrafted guys -- get a lot more attention and help in Seattle than they do in other places.

Because the roster is young, the odds are in our favor at the end of the year that we have most of the critical pieces still relatively healthy.

I am NOT sleeping on Carolina or Arizona. That said, the former is in disarray with an interim head coach. The latter is going to play at our house. Both games set up well, and the Seahawks are likely to be favored by about a touchdown in each game.

The result? If the team does what needs to be done and wins those games, we have bought ourselves precious time, a couple of weeks, for some of the older guys who are dinged up (or have the flu) to make a full recovery.

In short, if we win the next two games -- which is an if, but I feel good about it -- I think we'll have pretty much everyone back for the battle of the Century(Link).

I'm excited to see what the team brings to the table now that they have no option other than to win!

I'd like to see it happen, but there's a ton of speculation in here, without any record of success to back it up.

Their receiving roster is better than ours, hands down. George Kittle, Emmanuel Sanders, Deebo Samuel, Levine Toilolo, and, yes, Dante Pettis and Kendrick Bourne are a superior group to ours, which falls off into nothingness after Metcalf and Hollister at this point. Lockett is a shell of what he was a month ago. I'd like to believe the reports that he looked better in practice this week, but I'm tired of Pete's sunny optimism and am firmly in wait-to-see mode. Same with Josh Gordon. They talk about getting him more involved, but they talk about a lot of things they want to do and never seem to be able to do it. (Rumors are that's because there's an opposing defense involved, and they haven't figured out how to get around that particular stumbling block.)

I've always been a fan of Prosise' talent and I'm glad he's healthy, but he's mostly healthy because he hasn't been asked to do anything this year. Just because he's on a rope doesn't mean he's going to magically make things happen. It's wishful thinking. Maybe he and Homer blow up, I dunno.

Sherman will be back for Week 17.

Their DL is one of the league's best. Ours? I'm honestly just waiting for Clowney and Ansah to head to IR at this point. They aren't getting healthy. They just aren't. Sometimes that's how it goes.

At this point - and I realize this is an ultra-pessimistic, 2010-era-MontanaHawk-esque take that nobody wants to hear - I'm already looking forward to 2020. We're going to re-sign Clowney if we have any brains at all, and along with Green, Shaquem, and our revamped secondary, it'll form a solid core of talent on defense around which we can build. We're probably two good high non-project WR picks away from really threatening on offense. We've got a shot at a great run coming up.

But this is the 49ers' year, if you ask me. They're mantle-deep at every position. Brilliant drafting.

Seahawks are intentionally healing Ansah and Clowney now, Clowney, say whatever you want, is known, every year, for turning on the juice in the playoffs, to the deep annoyance of Houston fans who wondered where he was all season.

Ansah has been taking it easy all year, honestly we don't need him to come on the way Griffen is stunting inside, all we need is one more young guy to come on but, wonder if they'd ever consider playing Reed on the outside a little.

lets see, other good young guys,

Chris Carson

I will be thrilled if we can just win on Sunday without having a near heart attack watching the team go down to the last quarter to pull out the win.

Hawks will go as far as their offense takes them. Much to many people's dismay, some of that will require a strong run game to keep our beat to hell defense off the field. Some will require RW magic.

Sadly I agree with Montana, I think Clowney's effectively done for the year.

Any more wins will depend on Wilson . Hopefully his mediocre play lately is done . He has to be at peak form or the Hawks will not fair well . IMO
