Well, I was planning on posting this in a new thread, but it seems to fit here.
When we one the 12-13 season superbowl we had a massive buildup. We saw a terrible team taken over by Pete Carroll and a spark of extreme effort. Even loss by loss we saw something different. The team cared. They tried hard and failed more than they succeeded.
The next year they built on it. They won the division (with a loosing record) and beat the reigning champs. We had a growing feeling that the team would be better. They where building something. I could feel that in my bones!

We then had a successful playoff victory and a very close loss to the Falcons. I could tell we where well on our way! We had anticipation of a great team getting better. We may just win it next year, and I predicted that we would as I'm sure you did as well. The growth was obvious and the depth of the team was insane.

We did it In impressive fashion! We saw the buildup, the growth, and the growing hope was fulfilled. I remember telling my wife after the loss to the Falcons that we will win it all next year, as im sure many of you did. We did it!

Last league year I was more hopeful than I had been for years. I saw growth, and disappointment. How did we loose to the giants? But I saw grit and determination. I saw a defense that grew from the start of the year into a force. I had not seen this explosive aggression since Pete's first few years, shrunken to a shadow of itself over over the next few years.

This years team happened so fast i think many 12s missed it. The growth was so fast! MM fixed 10 years of a failed D in a half of a season. I saw progression in the O line that I had not seen in 15 years plus.

I told my wife at the end of the season that we had a great team. I told her that we would improve even more. It was just the start, but we would win the superbowl the next year (this year).

Why did it seem anticlimactic? Because we didnt see growth over multiple seasons. We didnt have failure and build to success. We didn't have off-seasons of seeing growth and being hopeful for more. Investing our time in questions like how can we get over the hump? Is it possible? Can we do it?

Was it too easy? No. It was hard. It was hard fought. We beat one of the best teams all time in Dvoa in the Rams for the NFC. We beat the MVP and the second in MVP votes.

I think many just didnt see the buildup and the years of struggle before hand so it could seem less earned.

My friends, this is just the start. Strap in.

It def. wasn't easy getting past the Clams, twice.
No that part wasn’t easy. Maybe that has a lot to do with it. The clams were the crescendo and the Super Bowl was the wind down…. I think the patriots were bad too. I really was rooting for the first Super Bowl shutout. I remember thinking “well, if it’s gonna be this much of a beat down we might as well get the shutout…”

I was bummed when the patriots scored

Oh man, I wanted a shutout so bad.
Dude at my office "It was only 16 points, that's not a blowout"

How adorable. That score isn't even CLOSE to the total domination we saw. That game was never remotely in doubt. They had zero points and 79 total yards thru 3 quarters, and were down 19 zip. Should have won by 30, easily. Also, I couldn't give a rip about garbage time touchdowns. Especially that final one. Dude almost looked embarrassed to score

I think many of us preparred for the worst, we know worst, but where the fight was hard we got thru it all to the Superbowl and won, it was unexpected but a hope in many of our minds, as we saw them come together we seen how good they were against the best in the league who happened to be in our division. Again a measureing stick we take for granted until put up against other teams out of it. Thats where we see how good they were. Rams and 49ers and yes even Arizona, keep each other sharp, any one of these teams can be down but this division has a long history of pushing representation in the Superbowl or at the very least Division championship.

Winning this Super Bowl feels different. Not like less exciting or magnificent, but like how could it already be done? That was it? It’s like I was waiting for it to reach the pinnacle of intensity but it never did, we just wooped another team like it was a Sunday afternoon and now it’s like, who’s next? Anybody?

Will we ever lose again? Mikes not even 40! We could literally go undefeated for the next 20 years…. They will have to change the name of the Lombardi to The Mike.
I think its clear that the highlight of the season was the NFCCG against the Rams.

I think after an intense game like that, this Super Bowl felt like a bit of a let down.

from the get go the Seahawks looked like the superior team. It never even looked like a contest, the Patriots were just another team.

We would all be singing a different tune if Woolen cost the Seahawks the NFCCG. It was not easy.

Agreed brother, I like the way you phrased that.
Most, if not all, the rest of the NFL fan base probably thought the same thing.

At least it was the Patriots though... a team that actually still had its starting QB.

EXACTLY why I love this so much. SEVERAL media loudmouth idiots STILL can't just say those 3 words. I WAS WRONG.

And it's delish af.
They are never wrong, you know that, they know that, and we should accept it as gospel. But we like their tears.

Yep. One stupid, selfish decision (taunting penalty after 3rd down incompletion) made that game a nail biter, when it didn't need to. We won the SB, but I'm not sure I'll ever truly forgive him (Woolen) for that sh**

And I'll add that this penalty was incurred despite Woolen being told along with every other player in the league that they were going to crack down specifically on taunting and Woolen's own experience with being flagged for taunting twice this season before this incident.

Well its our second one. Nothing will ever really beat the feeling of finally winning it for the first time. Especially after XL.
True. Nothing can match the exhilaration of winning our first SB, but the 49 redemption factor made it very close (for me anyway), just as I expect it would if we ever get another crack at the Steelers in my lifetime.
Had Sean Payton taken the FG in the AFCC and we just played & beat the Broncos again, of course I would be thrilled, but it wouldn’t have compared to beating the Pats. Exorcizing 49 would have possibly been one of my 3 wishes from Aladdin’s lamp. It was a miraculous ending to a miraculous season.

The real Super Bowl was the NFC championship game.
Agree as well.

It very much reminded me of the Niner vs. Cowboys duels in the 90’s. You knew those two teams were leaps and bounds ahead of any AFC team they could possibly face.

Something about beating Sean Payton though…. I don’t have a reason to dislike him really I just do….

He's an unlikeable person, just has a bad attitude. And quite frankly, after bountygate, he's lucky that he can still be a head coach in the NFL. I was good to see him not make another super bowl.
