I remember being surprised that Seattle drafted Carlson over Fred Davis. Knowing what I now do about the Ruskell regime, I guess I shouldn't have been.
Holmgren was the one who wanted Carlson I think

The Eagles won't trade or release Celek. Celek becomes much more important player to them because they lost Maclin. He was one of their top receivers (if not the top) the past few years. They need him.

Dallas Clark, Kevin Boss, David Thomas, and Chris Cooley may be available.

They need a blocker for two TE sets/goal line formations. Willson will work out ok in passing formations. If Seattle doesn't pick up a reliable tight end to run block, they will be in a world of hurt if Zach goes down.

In other words, they don't need a world beating receiver. They need a big strong beast that will put his hat on someone.

If we could get Celek that would be huge. He's not the most physical blocker, but he's willing to do it.

Carlson's contract would cost too much. He was waaaay overpaid by the Vikings.

I'm having a brainfart, but we had a blocking TE that went to Detroit like 2-3 years ago. Maybe see if he's available.

I can almost guarantee we'll be picking up a veteran TE before the season starts. Miller's injuries are a serious enough problem to trust such an important position to this offense to two rookies.

Rotoworld reported he signed with TB. Looks like I can't trust their news at all. :(

There was mention that Michael and Martellus Bennett wanted to land on the same team. Martellus signed with Chicago and is now their #1 TE. That would have been another good signing in the off-season. Of course what's done is done... but, with all that Michael Bennett has been saying about Seattle being a desirable player destination, I wonder if there was any attempt to lure both brothers? Ah well. If anyone wants to scour the entire list of TE's in the league as of now (who knows how up-to-date it is), go here: http://www.nfl.com/players/search?categ ... erence=ALL

Here's a couple of thoughts on possible trade targets. Of course there's no way of knowing how feasible such deals might be. Pure speculation and in terms of looking for a guy that would require the Hawks to part with something as well in a trade. So, not at all saying these guys would be available after final cutdowns. I don't think either would be far-fetched and could give the Hawks an upgrade with a TE that can block and catch.

Sometimes teams that play in the pre-season end up finding players off the other teams' roster. Perhaps if San Diego is truly that desperate for a WR and would deal, this guy John Phillips is said to be a pretty good TE. He's just been playing behind Jason Witten and now Antonio Gates.

I liked this guys' game at Oklahoma http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roste ... 50b9ce8b50 , but I doubt Dallas would deal with Seattle. Plus, I don't know they have as critical a need. I don't follow the Cowboys, but do know that Monte Kiffin told their defense to start watching film of Seattle's Defense when he was hired. Maybe they need a CB, would love to get a player that would fit what they're trying to emulate (at least to some degree) and might part with a player like Hanna. They did draft Gavin Escobar. Not sure if they keep 3 TE's or how that battle is going for their backup. Some might say they would rather get Escobar. Just not thinking Dallas would part with a guy like that they just drafted fairly high.

Chip Kelly in Philadelphia has also been in the news as looking for WR's. Maybe upping the ante and sending a WR and possibly Walter Thurmond (gasp) to Philly could even fetch a Zach Ertz, Brent Celek or James Casey. They also have Clay Harbor who they've kept around, so may be willing to part with a TE out of the 4. Not sure Harbor would be worth a trade.

Agree. TE is a big concern at this point with Millers injury history -concussions/foot- we are looking very thin. Doesn't look like Willson is going to be ready for a big contribution. Hopefully he's a quick study but we need a Vet TE asap. Come on PC/JS, pull another rabbit out of the hat-
