i agree. like i said i dont think the dropoff at most positions is quite that dramatic. cable will throw someone out there just like he always does. keep getting hurt thatll be another story as we only have so many backups in line.

I agree with you on the drop off.I dont think it will be that big.Brenos intimidation factor is way over blown. This is the NFL he doesnt scare anyone.
If the Oline does struggle my prediction is way to many Bevells playcalling sucks and should be fired threads.Bevell is an acceptable target to criticize and not get hasseled over it
I have never seen a ol coach and the oline be given so many excuses and defended like this one has.

Breno does not scare anyone, but he does get under their skin and pisses them off to the point they react in a stupid way which usually means 15 yards for the hawks :D

Watch, both of these guys trot onto the field for the first series.

All smoke and mirrors. :stirthepot:

Don't get me wrong. I feel the Hawks will win this game.

But it's going to ugly. Lots of defense, special teams play, turnovers, and field position will be the deciding factor. Most importantly, it will be Cable's ability to figure out what Phillips is doing, trying to exploit and to make the right adjustments.

Ugly game. At times, very painful to watch, but...

16-13 ... Hawks win.

No condescension, just wondering: With the Hawks starting D giving up 17 points in 3 games, why does anyone assume the Texans are going to do enough on offense to beat even a hamstrung offense?
Nobody should assume that, you're right. If we were at home I wouldn't even bat an eyelash, home is where the D is silly dominant.
On the road, the D played very well vs Carolina, but the road is the one place where the pass rush (historically) hasn't been as good, and the D in general is a bit less scary.

In the past we've seen games, early last year for example, where the offense struggled and the D just seemed to play even better to make up for it, it's that kind of D. This happened in Carolina. That's one scenario where I can see us walking away with a win, and it's not all that improbable.

I totally believe we *can* win. I just believe the tattered OL matchup vs. Texan D is a "big deal" is all, and think our D is going to have to play near-perfect to overcome because the offense is going to struggle to put up 20.

The key to this game is certainly our O-line. Even when healthy, as in Carolina, we had trouble protecting Russell and running the ball. The less than stellar running game can partially be explained by opposing teams focusing on stopping it, but the protection issues, IMHO, are a reason for deeper concern. Don't get me wrong. I'm not whining, I don't think our O-line is a bunch of bums, just trying to be realistic about our guys. This game will turn not on how well the O-line plays, but rather on how Russell and Lynch and the receivers handle it when things breakdown. Cuz breakdown they will.

Go Hawks.

I don't know if I've ever seen a thread that more completely made Seahawks fans sound like straight-jacketed lithium sippers.

At least, during a period of recent success.
This thread wouldn't be nearly what it is if there weren't the posts saying:

- no big deal, not much dropoff with the...rookies
- no big deal, Cable
- no big deal, Texans aren't anything to worry about, hey Carolina was better
- no big deal, fairy magic and unicorn farts
- anyone concerned is crazy, we have a winning record

That last one is you, so congratulations for pushing the thread to new heights.

But you're right, the folks who think the OL is in tatters, THOSE are the ones needing medication.

All I will say is...

Chefs. Seahawks. 1990.

7 sacks by DThom, 9 total.

Seahawks still won.

Concerned but not worried. I expect this game to play out very similar to that one. Ugly but we'll take it.

This might be one of the most melodramatic things i've ever read on. Net... and that's really saying something!

I'm convinced that even if we do lose the next couple of games, the O-line will heal up at just about the time Harvin returns. At which point I would expect our offense to attain new heights.

I can understand the anxiety. Houston is looking terrible and the Seahawks defense can allow them to hang with anyone, but a low-scoring game is dangerous. It can tip instantly based on one lucky play.

Why are these guys suddenly so brittle?

They are 300 pound people fighting, hitting falling on 300 pound people. Its bound to happen.
It's occurring at a higher rate than usual.
They want to reduce injuries in the NFL? No one over 250 lbs cleared to play would go a long ways towards that.

Here is to establishing the run early against one of the best run stuffing defensive line in the league. I will be happy when this happens. The line is built for this. The designed roll outs will probably be seen often. I am more interested in the xfense killin it

Look, this might be our last chance to bitch and whine about something for a while. We need to act concerned about the o-line while we still have the chance to do so.
