Don't mean to rain on the season kickoff parade but I'm not liking the handwriting on the wall.

Modern medicine can work miracles... especially with young bodies that are so quick to heal.

I have faith that Abe will return to the starting lineup.

Start scouting the top college tackles. Time to take a couple of them, or more. They are worth their weight in gold and hold excellent trade value. For that reason, you can't go wrong with drafting more than you need. The idea is to use up 3/4 of their rookie contract and then trade them before the vet minimum hits while occasionally extending the cream of the crop. The positional demand is so high, you will nearly always recoup much of the investment, especially with respect to compensatory picks. Just stay ahead of the cycle

I've mourned him and have mentally considered him medically retired. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he returns for any real stretch of time, but I don't expect it to happen.
I'm getting to that place as well. We should know by the end of this season what we have in Lucas. If he has questions at that time, I put $$ on a T in the early rounds next year.

I have zero confidence in any meaningful contributions at this point. Dude has skills, just unfortunate health issues derailing his career. You hate to see it.

After watching kam go down so unfortunately I see that it's inevitable to not lose now and then as bodies aren't meant to take that kind of punishment so draft away , a tackle a draft might not be a bad idea or way to go

This is where I've been since a little bit of info about Lucas's injury escaped under Carroll. I haven't understood all the people around here looking forward to Lucas being back performing at (or even near) 100%, because I'm not convinced we'll ever see that. In fact, I consider it much more likely that we won't see it than we will.

So I've accepted the loss, and while others around here have been looking forward to Lucas's return, I've been thinking about how well Fant will do and what the Seahawks will do about backup tackles.

I'd love to be wrong about this one and have the Seahawks able to spend roster-construction capital (players and draft picks to trade, salary-cap space for signing players) on positions other than RT, but wishing won't make it so.

As have I. I accepted it a while ago. Big men with chronic knee conditions rarely result in a happy ending. It's such a shame because most young tackles wash out because they lack NFL talent. He showed the talent but will probably wash out because of his knee.

Yea Abe is done. His knee is no good. Might play a few games this year. And try to play next year. But unless they find a new type of procedure or medicine. He’s not going to be able to play at a high level.

As someone with a knee injury, they can sometimes take a couple years to heal. It's just the nature of the game. I wouldn't rule him out just yet.

Need to look back at Jim Otto and House Ballard, those guys played with knee injuries and had multiple surgery's.

There's only so much even modern medicine can do for obviously a degenerative condition just to live life let alone football. It doesn't sound good for him to play again.

Definitely getting harder and harder to maintain hope for Abe. Kid has his whole life ahead of him. I hope he gets better.

Draft a T next April. I too have privately mourned the loss of Abe. I will be blown away if he gets back to the lineup anywhere even close to 100%. Damn shame.
