It was indeed Milroe, but Darnold remained on the field in the fullback/safety position in case anyting went sideways -- and to also give the D something to think about on 4th and 1. I like the idea of Darnold staying on the field for this play, but we've now telegraphed it to everyone, so we lose the surprise factor in the regular season. Stupid coaching decision to show your hand in preseason. Amateur hour.
Unless your setting them up , like a pitch to darnold and a quick pass to a TE but yeah , i guess the thought might be we gotta try it to see if it works against another team , but either way it looked better than anything i've seen in years
This offense looke evolved compared to the last 15 years

Here is a picture of it and what Tusc2000 stated about Darnold's position on the field :

Thanks for the pics!
The way KC is defending it, it does look like they are concerned about Milroe bouncing it outside or one of the FBs leaking out for a pass from Darnold, e.g., on a direct snap or pitch from Milroe.
Love that the Hawks have added this element to their offense! For so many years Seattle has lost games because of failures on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1.

Going to reply here vs a new thread

In the Washington game first quarter with about 5mins left we tried to run the Tush Push and got a false start. I do not believe we have run this before during the regular season and it looked like it would have been succesful.

I was happy to see it as I think we need something on short yardage that consistenly works

Did I miss it previously in the season? Besides trying it in August with Milroe was this the first time with Darnold?

So AJ Barner seems to be the best at it in our team so far. Have they tried Byron Murphy at it during camp though? I remember against the Huskies he was Texas short yardage guy. Or is it a case of let's not risk him getting hurt on such plays?

I think it is more of not trusting a guy who doesn't handle the ball as much - or ever - in the kind of scrum those short yardage tush push situations are. Definitely want a good hands guy doing that.

yep. the last thing we want is a fumble in that situation with all the mass of bodies there.
