While Cowherd is from the area, he is hardly a Hawk homer. He trashed us until we got good again.13thMan":26et1i1i said:Sarlacc83":26et1i1i said:13thMan":26et1i1i said:Plus, let's be frank, isn't Dilfer a bit of a Niner homer himself?
Dilfer played 1 season for SF in 2007. So, why exactly, would he be a Niners' homer? You have some inside info?
Dilfer is often a guest on the Cowherd show... they have been known to quibble because while it's clear Cowherd is a Hawks homer, Dilfer is just as obviously a Niners homer... Maybe I'm wrong but that's the impression I get... Maybe Marvin49 could chime in on this?
EDIT: Nevermind, other posters have elaborated to support this....

I'd agree that the D is built around that stadium, but I wouldn't call them soft on the road either. Perhaps not quite as good, but Trent went WAY farther than I ever would.
drdiags":3du4svtj said:I would say that the Seattle D isn't as physically stout up-front as some analyst say they are. They have had teams getting chunk runs up the gut since mid-season last year. This year, we have to find out what Tony McDaniel has to offer but to me it seems their focus has become more intent on getting pressure on the QB. How they compare to the 9ers is unknown to me, since both teams have had changes on the defensive side of the ball.

Fact #1: No defense is as good on the road as they are at home, ever, in the history of football.
Fact #2: Trent Dilfer has made random pissy comments about the Seahawks in all ways, shapes, and forms since retiring and working in the media. He's still bitter about Holmgren choosing Hasselbeck at the early part of Hasselbeck's career and the latter part of Dilfer's. He can't accept the fact that he's the most scrub starting QB to ever get a Super Bowl ring, and everyone knows it.
Fact #3: The dude's obviously a moron. We averaged 15.3 points allowed per game on defense last year. Sure, we were BETTER at home, but ALL defenses are. Yeah Trent, our defense is built around crowd noise and they're only good there.

BTW to the poster above (mjwhitay)....
1) None of those guys is Justin Smith or meant anywhere near as much to their team as Justin does. Aldon was hurt as well.
2) In the past 6 games the Niners have faced Brady, Brees, Wilson and Rodgers. If you add the playoffs you can add Rodgers again, Ryan and Flacco.
3) In that same streak of games the 'Hawks faced Cutler, Kaep...............and yeah.

I like how you put Wilson in the elite category and Kaepernick in the same category as Cutler.

I posted something similar in the post right above yours. What would be interesting is how Pts allowed (and wins) would change for the seahawks with the same away schedule as the 49ers.

Actually regarding #2 it has nothing to do with that AT ALL. Dilfer has said many times that Hasselbeck saved his life. When his 5 yr old (??) son died, he went through depression and didn't want to live. Hasselbeck was there for him throughout that whole time. He didn't like how the Seahawks "jerked" Hasselbeck around towards the latter part of his Seahawks career
