Trent Dilfer is one of my favorites. I tuned in specifically because I knew he'd be on and was SHOCKED when he said that. I know he's a huge fan of RW.

I'd agree that the D is built around that stadium, but I wouldn't call them soft on the road either. Perhaps not quite as good, but Trent went WAY farther than I ever would.
This is stupid, football isn't baseball that field is standardized unlike baseball where it's possible to somewhat tailor a team to a specific venue, in a very general way. Dilfer like Heath Evans is just a tool.

Taking homer biases aside, what Dilfer could be referring to is that the discrepancy between the Seattle defense at home vs. on the road. In that case, he is absolutely correct. It's the biggest discrepancy in the league by far. Offense not as much.

What the Redskins were doing in the wildcard game up until Griffin's injury.....NO WAY do most people think that could have happened in Seattle (running the ball with authority).

When people look at a Seahawk matchup vs. another strong team the first thing you think of is home or away. It's not like that with most other strong teams but it is quite common with teams with loud stadiums (Chiefs, Saints, Vikings). Since the Seahawks have more defensive talent than those teams and a bit louder stadium, the difference in magnified further.

The Seattle defense is very good but takes on a completely different personality at home. The 49er defense has done better on the road the last two seasons on average, 10 AM starts included. I don't expect that much to change this season barring major injuries.

The 49er defense had its ups and downs last season but location has little to do with it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...He's saying our defense is better at home than on the road? That's ridiculous, no NFL team is like that.

Don't act shocked that Washington ran on us. They were among the very best at it. And stop with blaming it all on RG3's tweak of his knee. When the truth was far closer to we made adjustments and football is all about injury and how you deal with it. It's not Madden where it's all played by the numbers in a vacuum.

We all know Seattle had the #1 Scoring Defense in the NFL last year right.

But what if you just ranked teams/defenses on the road?

Seattle was still #2 in the NFL behind NE and Chicago who tied for first.

New England 19.2
Chicago 19.2
Seattle 19.4
Denver 19.8
Cincinnati 20.0
Atlanta 20.4
San Francisco 20.7

Whatev Trent. We dropped from #1 to #2.... :179419:

He's still mad about Hasselbeck, that's all it is. It's not the first time he's said something bad about the Seahawks and it won't be the last.

I dunno...he's been pretty poitive about them in the recent past here...in particular on Wilson.

Thats kinda why it surprised me.

Not at first he wasn't, both him and Irvin said RW will not succeed in this league, he was too short, and it was a mistake to start him over flynn, they both went on to say Seattle will struggle, even with steve young calling him a moron basically, he stuck to the RW will not succeed, only until it was obvious he was wrong, and then jumped on the bandwagon..

to me this sounds exactly like the bullcrap he was spewing last season, only when Seattle proves themselves will he once again become a homer.

Question i have is, our defense is basically the same line up plus/minus a couple guys, how exactly are we softer this year, because Hill and Trufant arent' here any more? LOL.. ridiculous statement.

how exactly is a defense built around a stadium?

I would say our defense traveled pretty well last year.

Our front seven isn't nearly as physical/talented as our secondary. We have a serious luxury having 4-5 players who can start/make pro bowl teams in our secondary. I honestly thought DW run last week was going to lead to a touchdown but our secondary saved us with a huge strip and fumble.

But to say collectively is a joke and Trent should know better. Our pass rush at home is obviously better, having the luxury of the loudest stadium in the NFL helps the line get jumps.

They're tied #1 and #1, which makes us #2. Looking at it any other way, confuses me ok!? :dummy:

Oh well. There is some truth to what trent says. We do have a slightly different vibe on defense on the road.

That's true for all teams though. He made it sound like we are crap on the road.

Exactly. What is getting me all twisted up is nearly everyone in the media is spinning Kaepernick as elite because he torched Green Bay. A team too slow to stop the R/O without playing double high and no press on Boldin. That's just a stupid scheme regarding Boldin. As MRob said on NFLN Sherman will follow him if Browner is a no go. And Sherman handles Boldin nicely as previous matchups prove.

I would say that the Seattle D isn't as physically stout up-front as some analyst say they are. They have had teams getting chunk runs up the gut since mid-season last year. This year, we have to find out what Tony McDaniel has to offer but to me it seems their focus has become more intent on getting pressure on the QB. How they compare to the 9ers is unknown to me, since both teams have had changes on the defensive side of the ball.

I completely agree. Our run D has been pretty much non-existent since the game @ San Fran last year.

Yep. We saw physically stout last week in Carolina. Be interesting to see how we handle the same type of physical team this Sunday.
