Geno has been saying good things too.

And:

Clearly the proof is in the pudding, and there is likely to be some growing pains. But over and over I'm hearing Grubb talk about tailoring the offense to the talent you have, and that he's looked at Geno's tape all the way back to his college days. I really think this offense is going to very intentionally take advantage of each player's skillset, rather than expecting them to adapt to it. The cool thing about that is that as players come and go, Grubb will adapt to new players better than we have in the past. I hope.
This gives me hope that the Grubb/Macdonald combo is going to be lethal. A great offensive mind paired up with a great defensive mind should be putting the league on notice.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of; and if the offense is as potent as I think it will be (as long as the team is disciplined and picks it up well), we might end up seeing a new OC this time next year. I hope Grubb stays loyal to the team for at least a few years before moving up, but that just sounds so selfish and I wouldn't blame him at all if he did accept a HC job after this year.
I hope this happens with the offense and you may be right, it could mean Grubb bolts after a year or two. It might also play out like a Ben Johnson scenario where he shows loyalty. However, the pre-Seahawks jumping from Seattle to Tuscaloosa and then back to Seattle now has me a little concerned about his longevity with the Hawks.

Really depends on how hungry he is for the role. Hopefully he realizes that his legacy is likely to be greater through sustained success as part of a team, rather than gambling on building it on his own. If he and MacDonald find success in the first couple of years, he will likely be better served by spending 5 to 6 years of building on that, before going off on his own.

Age works against him though. Since 2000, there have only been about a dozen men who have made their head coaching debut past 50, and the trend isn't his friend.

If he has basically aged out of a head coaching gig, he might remain with us for a long time.

Been saying this all year all year after watching Penix torch people with pre snap movement and subsequent reads. It's why I was so high on him. You have to know your shit though otherwise it doesn't work. I hope Geno is cracking the playbook every day. I have my suspicions that his football IQ is significantly less than that Of Michael Penix. We're going to find out.

I don't think loyalty is what kept Johnson with the Lions. A lot of people reported that he wants enough money to be in the top five of salary for head coaches. Without having been a head coach previously, that is a big commitment from an owner.

I don't think that's correct:

“Something that really resonates with me is, OK, eight openings this past year,” Johnson said. “What would you set the over/under in three years, that how many still have jobs? I’d put the over/under at 4.5. I would say there’s a good chance five of them are out of jobs in three years. And, so, when I look at it from that perspective, if I get the opportunity to go down that road, it’s about how do I get to that second contract. How do I set myself up….the stars need to align. I’m not going to do it just to do it. I love what I’m doing right now. I love it. I love where I’m at; my family loves where we’re at. I love the people we’re doing it with, so I’m not willing to down the other path yet unless I feel really good about how it’s going to unfold.”

This is just supposition, but would Johnson actually come out and say after his interviews that none of the owners were willing to match what he wanted:

I don't think he's being disingenuous here. You could infer from his comments that he may want a longer contract than Washington was willing to give, but I don't think it's about being in the top 5 highest paid coaches.

If Grubb goes from college to the pros and gets a head coaching gig after one year, that's one HELLUVA year. Geno throws for 5000 yards and 80 TDs or something like that.

If losing Grubb so quickly is the price we pay for a season for the ages, I'll take it. :p Seriously though, if we're nervous about losing him to a head coaching gig after year 3 or 4, then we've been enjoying some really good offense. I'm as optimistic as anyone but even if it goes really well we're a few years away from needing to be concerned.

Inre Johnson: He says he loves where he is and his family does too. If you wanted me to give up something I love to come take a flyer with your team, it'd cost you a pretty penny too. I don't see "loves his position" and "wanted a ton a money" to be either/or reasons.

Inre Grubb: Coming to the Seahawks meant he didn't have to move his home or family. His daughter is 6 and his wife is a school psychologist, so maybe they've put down roots.
If he has the kind of success here in Seattle that would get him HC offers, it would also be the kind of success that would give him the stability to stay long term.
