He had two terrible interceptions and some big missed throws and runs. Maybe he isn't entirely to blame for the loss.

He was pretty bad tonight. The stupid penalties didn't help either.

This is just a flat-out terrible take. It's not even remotely close to the reality of the situation, even in this game.

I thought after Geno led the league in game winning drives last season and set the NFL record for go ahead touchdown passes in 4th quarter or overtime, people would stop trotting out the "just not able to win games" canard because it's so obviously not based on anything in reality, but I guess not.

In this game, he hurt us. Yeah. So did Shenault. So did DK. But those three guys all also had big time plays to make up for it and kept us in the game. Saying a QB can't win who literally brought us back into the thick of it MULTIPLE times (like, seriously, are we just ignoring the two scoring drives at the end of the game that he led?) takes a level of disconnect that I'm not capable of understanding. Dude could have EASILY chucked the game in the bin after the second INT but didn't.

Meanwhile, our defense lets three backup RBs for 200+ yards. They put up almost double the league average in rushing yards on us.

Our lead RB behind this O-Line had 14 carries for 32 yards. That's not even half of league average yards per carry.

It really is.

It's the laziest, most reductionist, 'I don't know how football works but I know who the quarterback is' take there is.

But, sure, 'Geno sucks'. Yes, you convinced me. Geno sucking is why we can't generate any rushing yardage unless Geno has already spread the defense out with his passing. Geno sucking is why our defense can't stop any RB, regardless of whether they are 3rd on the depth chart or not.

If your argument for why a QB 'sucks' has to ignore every single thing the QB does or what the rest of the team does and goes straight to 'can't win', you don't have an argument.

Dude, don't waste your time with long, well thought out replies on these "fans" that don't understand the nuisances of football. They see it at face value, what's in tv.

No way around it. Geno was bad tonight. Maybe after this brutal 3 games in 10 days stretch we get a week to get back on track

Like i said in my post ,I'm not blaming the loss on G-no.
Im saying he will never give you what you ultimately want.
He may be fun for you to watch at times but he will inevitably choke in the end. It is just the way it is. I dont like watching it and think it's time to move on.

Has most of the tools to win accept leadership. Career backup. Should not be the starter.
I wish the establishment would get this.
Im not blaming him for the loss, just not able to win games. Its been that way for quite some time.
This is almost entirely backwards to me. It'd be more defensible to blame him for this loss and not put out the "career backup" claims and stating he's unable to win games.

He was bad tonight, no question. Every QB has bad games.

I get it, the INTs get the headlines, but are we really going to ignore how all the hype about what our offense needed to do this game was go in there and 'run the damn ball'... and then our first-string RB generated only 2.2 YPC?

Why is this not generating alarm bells?

Please explain to me how the guy who led the league in game-winning drives and set the NFL record for the most go-ahead Touchdowns in 4th quarter/overtime will 'inevitably' choke in the end? I'll wait.

What I ultimately want isn't something Geno can give me. Geno Smith QB'ing has been fundamentally the only consistently decent thing about the way this team plays for literally a season and 6 games at this point.

What I want is an offensive line that can reliably get us a first down rushing play when we are on 3rd and 1 or 2. What I want is a defense that doesn't give up 200+ yards of rushing on a semi-regular basis. There isn't a QB in the entire NFL who is going to make this team substantially better until those two things get fixed.

What you and I both don't like watching is the Seahawks lose. The difference is that I want them to make changes that'll actually help them win.

Just want to point out that every scarlet-letter-wearing "Geno fluffer" is saying the same exact thing about this game before more people levy accusations of blind Geno defense at us.

I don’t think you’re wrong I just think the line is so bad that Grubb was probably right to be a little gun shy to run. They need better players on the line and there might not be a fix this year
I think it's related to this. Grubb is coming out of college ball to begin with, and I think he's kind of got the college ball mentality of how an offensive drive is supposed to look and the moment you start getting behind the sticks with a running play, you immediately start spamming your QB.

It's problematic because you can't abandon the run like that at the NFL level. The issue is... we do really, really suck at running the ball in any sort of neutral or run-likely situation. Our only solution for generating rush yardage for the last season and a third has been to get Geno to throw them into pass prevent defense and then let Walker work his magic in space.

But our offensive line isn't capable of consistently creating those gaps on its own.

The issue is compounded, though, when your defense is consistently letting you fall behind by two scores. It's ok to run the ball, even if it's not working, when you are ahead or the score is tight. But you take a college ball mindset and then fall behind like we have been? It's a recipe for 50+ pass attempts a game.

Geno wasn’t awesome early. That second int could’ve been on DK. We’re just built wrong. Great play makers but bad lines. This will eventually cost JS his job here. Plus why are our special teams a frickin disaster every game? I know we got a td but a two fumbled kicks is bad. We need guards and linebackers. Badly.
