I will try not to overreact here, but I was impressed today.

After last week I was feeling low on the team. And after the first half this week I was feeling the same way.

It was an overwhelming frustration, not because I thought the team was bad but because in both cases I felt the team had outplayed their opponents but was losing the game.

The second half today was an exorcism.

They played to their potential and beat a probable playoff team with Erin and spoiled DKs revenge game.

The team showed they are capable of winning games. Im not saying they are going to win it all or even predicting they win the division, but I am saying there is plenty to be excited about.

They can be competitive and that excites me.

There's a huge thing I noticed so far in this young season: no longer does the other team's third-and-long translate to an automatic first down the next play. Time after time, both Week 1 and Week 2, our D made sure their third-and-long truly meant third-and-long. Time after time, that third down actually went to fourth down! That holds great promise.

In the first half yesterday, I felt like we were the better team. We just kept shooting ourselves in the foot with bad throws and bad play calls. I'm glad we got it together in the 2nd half and won a game on the road where we outplayed the opposition. Hard thing to do. I expect us to cover the spread against the Saints and I feel like the stadium will be rocking.

Funny thing is, that opening drive was a thing of beauty. Haven't seen that kind of opening drive in years. Then, the rest of the first half we kind of stepped on our own dicks.

I'm not sure we made a ton of "adjustments" at halftime but they did come out fired up and playing much more consistantly. I don't remember that kind of dominance for an entire half in a long time as well.

This game showed how good they can be much more so than the SF game. Can't change the past, just need to continue the good play as the season progresses, starting this week against a weak Saints team.
