There is a second Byron Murphy II!

There is another one that plays for Minn! How can this be!?!? They are not the same age, so they can't be twins.

I believe the Vikings guy is a JR not a II so if they were immediately related. It would be father/son but there isn’t nearly enough age gap.

The names Byron and Murphy are quite common though so it’s not all that surprising really.

What would be interesting is if the Vikings’ Murphy Jr has a sone and names him the same he’d be a second and assuming he was born reasonably soon we could draft another Murphy II in about 2 decades.

The rule of thumb is the first child with the same name is Jr then his son would be II then his son would be III and so on.

I believe though that JR can be skipped and use II in its place. Some people aren’t fond of having a moniker of JR/SR

I doubt you’ll be able to convince all people to stop that. My dad could not wait to name me the third. No other names were on the table

Do what you want, I am pretty sure Grandpa Sperrydogg, doesn't care. My dad named his son John, and just changed the middle name. Of course my brother named his son after him with a Junior. Everyone calls him Junior. What do you call a II? Deuce, or Byron?

Bryon is a common name, but naming somebody after the poet Byron is far from common - that's why this screws with my head

I should have stipulated that it’s common enough for me. I’ve known several Byron’s. Not near as many as I have Bryan/Briab though

II, III, etc do not need to be sequential in anyway. Sharing the same name in the same family tree is all that is necessary.
