You can measure talent in different ways.......it was very close between the two teams.

But up until last year, I'd say the 49ers had the slight edge.

It's not delusion, and doesn't mean the actual team performed better. Coaching has a lot to do with end results.

I've said the team has underachieved compared to their actual talent level.

This is how I'd see it. Slight edge to the Hawks.

QB: Even
RB: Seahawks
WR/TE: 49ers
OL: 49ers
DL: Seahawks
LB: 49ers
DB: Seahawks
ST: Seahawks

WR/TE to the Niners? Their receiver corp is horrendous.

You mean now or 2-3 years ago? I think its better now than it has been in some time.

If we are talking a few years ago...

I'd agree on all but DL and Special Teams. DL at least a push Kicker and Punter had been strong points with the exception of one bad year by Akers. Teddy Ginn was also pretty good as a returner.

I was talking specifically 2012-13.

2012 wasn't too bad at all....Crab in his best year, Manningham prior to injury, Moss at least scared them deep, TEs were pretty damn good in Davis and Walker...

In 2013 tho they lost Crab to the Achilles, Manningham never really came back, Moss was gone, and Walker was gone. They traded for Boldin, but they've been looking for speed at WR ever since.

2012 I can see maybe a slightest of an edge to the niners mattering on which way the wind was blowing on that day, after that it's all Seattle IMHO.

At WR, I agree. I think Baldwin is much better than he gets credit for.

I'm still bummed by the whole Niner situation. We had it good, we had two teams that made for intense competition and the rivalry looked like it would go on at a high level for a decade. I still think that the rivalry will be there, but it won't be the same level. Kaep will still make mistakes, but he will burn the Seahawks at times and probably carry a lot of fire. Maybe wishful thinking. I want the old Niners back.

Don't worry you have the new Rams ready to take over the division. :0190l:

Even then wouldn't give it to 9ers.

I didn't. I gave the slight edge to the Hawks. Again, this is what I wrote:

It was expected, but it deserves its own thread for the lulz.

How the hell can anyone believe that the niners had the best depth over the past few years? They played their starters more than any team in the league over that time span. If their depth was that good, why didn't the depth players get any playing time? The niners could have avoided injuries and fatigue and may have ended a couple of their seasons a lot better if their depth was actually any good. I think the "niner depth" is basically a myth.

I'm shocked.

Sure looks like you gave WR/TE to SF.

I meant the whole team. You didn't clarify WR/TE. Do you think I'm some kind of closet niners fan just because I'm not enamored with our wideouts?

Well, I will dumb it down so it doesn't go so far over your head. Prior to last season when the niners had such "great depth", none of their "depth" got any playing time. When the niner "depth" actually had meaningful playing time, the niners went 8-8. Better depth would have gotten better results.
