Davis was our FB after Coleman left last night. Maybe Miller got some snaps in there too but every time I saw the FB jersey number, I saw #87.
If Robinson is sick, does he have cancer or something? The flu doesn't last two months. Robinson was on NFL network around week 1 or week 2 of the NFL season and didn't look the slightest bit sick. I think the reason he hasn't been signed is for several other reasons:
-He's 30.
-He's a fullback. A lot of teams don't even carry FBs, and those that do are typically happy with their FB situation. You don't stash FBs on your roster, even Ware isn't really being stashed as a 2nd FB. It's also somewhat uncommon for a player to be signed after the 53 man cutdown just for his special teams.
-Additionally, I think there is a perception among some that Mike Rob isn't even a real fullback, that he's a very unique player whom only Seattle could make work in that role, the same way that Brandon Browner might not appeal to every secondary.
-Whenever a team cuts a player, especially when they do not even attempt a restructure and replace him with a crappy looking UDFA rookie, it's only natural for other GMs to assume Seattle knows something they don't. Most GMs make moves like a school of fish: fearful of the unknown and afraid to stray from the norm. Instincts and groupthink dominate their roster decisions.
-He was previously the highest paid FB in the league. There might be money demands we don't know about. Maybe Robinson has decided to focus on landing a media job?
As far as people "getting over" Mike Rob, I think that's a silly statement. The departure of Robinson has done real harm to our offense, he's still available and we need a fullback with Coleman hurt. Get over what exactly? Inquiring about Mike Rob as been the right move for some time, but now it's just flat out common sense.
