At this point I think we need two Mariner threads like the Gonzaga outcome. Lose five in a row and everyone bitches. Win three in a row and everyone bitches.

Not everything is perfect, but there is a lot of estrogen in this thread.

Yep, especially the part about the estrogen.

3 game winning streak and a series win @ the Yankees and apparently all anyone has to say is whining about Wade Miley, whining about a base running error, and whining about Cishek not getting 3 straight outs even though he didn't give up a run and still got the save.

Also, what is with all the jabs, insults, and bashing of Mariners fans in this thread? Just because some of you don't like baseball or don't like the Mariners or are pissed or frustrated with the team doesn't mean you need to constantly bash the fans. The SEATTLE fans. WTF?

Cool story bro.

This is a thread about the Seattle Mariners. Mark Trumbo is not a Seattle Mariner.

The guys that are Seattle Mariners are currently on a 3 game winning streak.

Lol sorry a 3 game streak after winning 1 game at home isn't exactly something to get giddy about... If you are ok w the mediocrity that is our baseball team.. So be it.. Most of us it seems.. Are not.

Not giddy and not OK with mediocrity, but after losing 5 of 6 at home, a 3 game winning streak seems to be a step in the right direction in this very, very early MLB season wouldn't you say? Or can you just not bring yourself to acknowledge anything positive in regards to the Mariners?

Not everything is great with this team by any means, but there are some positives. I just don't see the point of posting nothing but whining and bitching about the negatives and completely ignoring any and all positives. But apparently that's how you roll... so... enjoy... I guess.

The Mariners have a historic record of losing at home for some reason early, whether it's the Park or the fact the ball carries poorly it's hard to gauge, the opposition doesn't seem to have the issue and never has, when June and July come around their home record tends to get better. One of those enigmas that everyone is still trying to figure out.

Maybe they need to have spring training in Astoria or someplace where the weather is more like home so the timing and atmospheric conditions are more like Seattle and they don't have the adjustment, I don't know but it always seems to happen.

Lol no, sorry I expect major league players to not make costly running mistakes.. I mean they are professionals right... I'm happy we won 3 in a row... I'm sure we will negate that with losing 4 or 5.. It's what we do... Go ms

Haters gonna hate, whiners gonna whine.

Me? I'm hoping we finish April within a game or two of .500, so any wins are a plus in my book. ;)

And you will just move on to the next ex-mariner that is playing above their head once Trumbo crashes back down to his career averages.

Oh there is no doubt he will come crashing down to earth. I posted his stat line because for one he is breaking franchise records already for the O's and it's ridiculous how guys do nothing with us and then leave and immediately do really well. He just hit two HRs in one inning. Amazing.

This is exactly what I've been wanting for the last few years: relying on singles and doubles to score runs rather than relying on the once-in-a-while home run.

An 80 year old in a walker could hit in Baltimores ballpark.

We need to swap Miley for Montgomery asap.

Seager needs to get out of his funk at the plate.

But a nice win today. Taijuan, I'll admit, I didn't like him at first but damn, he's impressive.

They have won two series in a row now

And all 3 road series this season. The good news is we have another series on the road before coming home. The bad news is we have to come after this next series. ;)

Seattle's team BABIP has been the worst in baseball by a huge margin, coming into today it was just .243. And the Mariners 1-5 record in one run games is probably also the worst in baseball. Seattle's luck has been nightmarishly bad.

So today was nicer than the usual win. 14 hits, and a close win. All the damage from that avalanche of bad luck has now amounted to only one game under .500.

Robinson Cano is going to be amazing once his BABIP normalizes. His wRC+ is one of the best in baseball, but his BABIP is one of the unluckiest. BABIP is like coin tosses, it will always correct itself over large sample sizes.

Miley stinks and Karns is mediocre. Seeing Miley suck so badly is even tougher given that the trade to acquire him was a terrible one from the start. Miley is much better than his current ERA, but even with average luck and average performance he's a mediocre starter.

Still, it's hard not to be pleased with the performance from Iwakuma, Felix and Walker. All have a FIP of 3.43 or better. Walker actually has the best FIP on the team, which is a pleasant surprise for me. Hitters aren't hitting him as hard as they used to.

You know, for as big an M's fan as I am (I rarely, rarely miss games), I have no idea what BABIP, wRC+, or FIP are or what they mean.
