This has to be the reason for that decision no?
If not - it's just really strange.

As far as his health being a potential reason the Seahawks didn't go after him more
aggressively....c'mon when has that stopped them from taking a chance on a player before?

To be fair, the players we've traded for before could actually take the field when they came to our team

It's odd we didn't step in and make a sweeter deal than that for him. Admittedly none of us know what we did or didn't do for him. It's too bad. We could have used him to put it mildly.

I would think If they did not make a play for him there was a good reason... It will be interesting to see if it is mentioned in Pete's PC... Maybe they like the younger guys they have. maybe they are better than what everybody thinks we will find out soon enough.. maybe there are other reasons?

I just think its interesting that they passed on Sherm and now Gilmore... there must be a reason we don't know. Its not money because they have some where around 11 million in cap space.

Can't speak to why they passed on Gilmore but I think Sherman was being considered until his DV charge. Also, maybe they did reach out to Gilmore and were told he wanted to go elsewhere. Someone mentioned he grew up in the Carolinas.

Would have figured there would be more of a market for Gilmore.

30 teams didn't pick him up and/or make a better offer. Not just the Hawks. Every time.............never changes.

I had hopes since early offseason that the Hawks would make a deal for him.

The reality is he is 31 coming off a pretty major surgery so it is possible they didn’t trust were his recovery was at.

We all know John is as in touch as any GM so I’m confident he made the call to inquire.

Could possibly be a situation were N.E. sent him to his preferred destination, believe it or not some people actually prefer that god forsaken East coast. Lulz

This and This. He won't be ready to play until week 7 at the earliest, he's 31 coming off of surgery,

He is from Carolina, so is going home to play. The Panthers new headquarters is in the same town that he grew up in. So, like Marshawn Lynch, he's going to where he always dreamed of playing.

AND, just because he's willing to wait on a new contract with the Panthers, that does not mean that he would have done that for any other team.

People always look at these trades with Rose Colored Glasses on. Remember Marshawn Lynch? He not only agreed to a low contract with the Raiders, but promised them that he would be in shape, on time, and attend all off season work outs.

Personally I would rather spend that 11mill on a Defensive or offensive lineman(center).
