I can’t wait until Murphy plays beside big cat. The other teams are going to have a handful
They're going to be really hard to game plan for. You can't double team them both. This doesn't even get into the exotic disguises that Macdonald has planned.

"Williams has found success recently despite seeing increased attention from opposing offensive lines. Per ESPN Analytics, Williams is currently tied for No.13 amongst defensive tackles in pass rush win rate (12%) despite being double-teamed on 58 percent of his plays."

I wouldn’t say he was a near certainty to be drafted by the Bears. In the scenario you described, the Bears could’ve easily taken Malik Nabors since they obviously wanted a receiver. Just taking a quick look through the major draft sites most had Murphy going to the Seahawks or later. In fact, there were 15 other teams that had a chance to pick him and did not. He was taken at number 16 because the other 15 teams thought there was a better player for their needs. Am I glad the Seahawks got him, absolutely. However, his value in the draft was at 16.
I should've been clearer. In that scenario, the Chargers would have taken Nabers after the Cardinals took Marv Jr. The Giants would then be left to select Odunze.

13th on the consensus big board is arrived at by averaging the mock drafts. By the time the draft arrived, Byron was mocked by most ahead of 16 with the Bears being the most popular landing spot.

Had the receivers all been gone at 9, most reliable sources had him going to the Bears as their backup plan BPA. Dane Brugler even had him going at 9 on draft day.

Since the QBs were gone there weren't many having an issue with the pick. Why the neener neener in the thread title? Unnecessary.

This is exactly why I guffawed at that PFF grade from the 1st preseason game. If you watched his snaps, the guy is a freaking monster. And he's a rookie in his first camp.

...fortunately, we're gonna be okay.

THIS makes quarterbacks and OCs nervous.

Not byzantine defensive schemes with DB's exchanging inscrutable semaphore and interpretive dance during the snap count.

Not flopping around like a gutless fish to hire anyone who's ever shaken hands with Vic Fangio.

Not getting rid of your entire DL in 2023.

Not signing Michael frickin' Wilhoite.

QUARTERBACKS. GETTING. THEIR. OWN. LINEMEN. SHOVED. BACK. INTO. THEIR. FACES.

THIS is what our defense has been missing for eight years. Quarterbacks haven't been uncomfortable in their pockets against us for eight years. Even good DE signings have only given limited returns without it. This is what got Pete fired. He couldn't replace Mebane. He couldn't find "the guy". We could have had it with Jesse Williams, Jordan Hill, or Malik McDowell. They were all good enough, but they all got injured and couldn't get past it.

Haven't had dancing QBs on the other since since 2015 and I am more than ready to have it back. Everything else is downstream from that, and that alone. Fight me.

PREACH!!!

I’d say “I told ya so” but I never actually said it.

I did however watch him a lot, definitely wanted him but truly thought we had no chance.

My prayers have been that he stays healthy, if he does the sky’s the limit for this kid.
Potential is there to be a generational talent.

And I’m MM defense, they will have no clue where he’s coming from. Good luck scheming this front.

It also takes away the sting of not getting Jalen Carter the year before.
