Struggling with backups would be a nice challenge for a number of posters on here to figure out how to blame it on everyone else.

I would hope that he's already hit that escalator. His agent needs to be fired if he negotiated it to be even more. Geno has been trying hard and getting even more red zone INTs just seems unrealistic.
I believe in him. He can get it if he plays.

This, times 1000 ^^^^^^

I'm not sure I've seen a QB get luckier over the last 2 years than gePICK. It's a trip. Several dropped interceptions.

Why not play full strength on the final game, especially against the Rams?

I know it's unlikely, but it would be sweet to send the Rams into the playoffs trying to remove the smell of a 3 or 4 score beat down. Say...31-6.

As for red zone picks? Easy. Just ensure that all of your scores originate from outside the red zone.

I don't think it's as unlikely as many probably do. The Rams are not nearly as good as that record. And they squeak by crap teams pretty much on the regular. And they always have the refs on their side, especially at home.

I’d like to see Howell or Hall start since this season is effectively over. We know what Geno has to offer, but if Howell is as bad as his mop up game a couple of weeks ago then it’s time to confirm and move on in the offseason. Hell, Hasslebeck sucked when he initially tried to overtake Dilfer. Look how that turned out.

Doesn't that happen to a lot of qb's? Even the great Mahomes...
Mahomes is one of the greatest of all time. Why the comparison? Come on man. Geno is average, nothing more. Just because a ball is dropped that should have been a pick, doesn't mean that it didn't happen. I'd love to see how many dropped picks he had the last 2 seasons. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the most in the NFL by a landslide.

Geno just seems to get excused for his obvious bad decisions, often.

-- Why does discussion of the QB position have to take on such a combative edge. Why do you hate guys that are out there doing their best. Geno isn't lazy, he isn't a problem child. He doesn't embarrass the franchise with idiocy. Respect the man for being the best QB he can be.

-- On the other side of the coin, I believe we need to acknowledge his limitations. If Geno was 24, I would want to give him more time, but he isn't. The issues we see with him aren't bugs, they are features. I look at the NFC playoff picture and can't think of any QB in there I would not rather have than Geno right now (except for Stafford due to age).

-- I understand why some people like him, while others think he is okay but just not good enough to get where we want to get to. We need to accept that he is a taller Kyler Murray type of player. Geno with the big arm vs. Kyler with the quick feet. They have an attractive asset, but in the moments, in those key moments, they will always make the big mistake.

I can't think of one good reason to start Geno against the Rams. He is already beat up and the game is absolutely meaningless other than getting to 10 wins and I am curious to see what Howell would do with some prep and a full game.

I don't hate him at all. I just don't think he's a great QB. Big difference.

Absolutely not. Let's just stop all this Sam Howell talk. I, a 65-year-old man with a permanent handicap, would not do worse as the Seahawks quarterback. And I would be terrible.

Yeah, he lacks toughness, physically and mentally

Problem is they don’t have any immediate replacement

At end of the day, Geno is a placeholder, not the solution

Not worth risking an injury to Geno if he's to come back next year. Start Yosemite Sam, evaluate, and go from there.
